I think the Magnus # 1 cover may be my favorite piece in this auction

 

 

 

Mine too....but I didn't see $40k, in the pre-live bidding, coming.

That would be my pick as well. Painted Silver Age first issue/first appearance of a character still in publication 50 years later? Yes, please.

Classics Illustrated "Time Machine" cover also by Wilson is over $20k and it ain't finished yet either!! That's crazy too.

 

Who's' pumping all of this dough into these 2 covers???

Yeah -- in my naivete, I had the Magnus cover pegged around $20-$25k.

 

It deserves to be much more, so I think $40k in pre-bidding is appropriate.

 

Way out of my price range, but it's a long-term grail.

 

I'm trying to build the world's best collection of slabbed Magnus comics. I'm 5 issues away from a solid NM (9.4 or better) set, and I think I've now got a complete (VG) collection of the Mexican reprints.

I got the only thing that remotely interested me. Pretty much at my max too, oh well, was hoping I would save a few bucks.

 

And for those that are curious, I don't like talking about art until I have it in had, but the hint is that I am filling up Yoram's war chest
