Does anyone think Snowfall # 1 from Image will do anything value/price-wise?

Probably about as much as Great Pacific...

That's about what I had in mind too. Guess I'll trade wait this one

Can't hurt to grab a copy to see what it's all about and just in case it does get legs.

That's true and do I want to read it - the story concept intrigues me - so I may pick it up and at $3.99 I can't say I'm taking much of a risk

Speculating on Moderns that are going to heat up BEFORE they ship.

Hey Guys,

I am starting a new thread on comics shipping that "could" get hot. I have been ordering new comics for 22 years and love to speculate. I'm OK at it too. I'm going to post a new pick every Tuesday.

Parusing this weeks ship list one book sticks out to me that I will buy extras of.

Ratchet & Clank #1

Here is criteria I use to break down the early decision to speculate.

Story:( is writing a cause to purchase? ) neutral

Art: ( is artwork a cause to purchase ) yes, looks reflective of video game

Availibility: is it In stock at Diamond: as of this writing, Yes ( and DC is well known to overprint)

Dual Collectable: there is a huge fanbase allready collecting Ratchett and Clank material. They WILL be seeking out the comic, competing with comic collectors.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ratchet_%26_Clank

Print Run: I would guess slightly higher than a middle tier DC

Is it a Number one? Yep, and collectors are drawn to them like fanboys to fudge.

3 out of 5 stars

Speculating on new comics is one of the facets of this business that keeps Wednesday magical to me.

Respectfully

Larry Doherty

R&C has been pretty good as a set at $30-$50 for a long while. so there has always been some profit in there, particularly if you are Larry and got them at half cover.

i bought #1 based, in part, on larry's post back in 2010, because it seemed to make sense.

if that becomes a $100 set then it makes a lot of sense. i see now BN prices appraoching $50 for #1 being listed, but I see no corresponding sales for #1 above $12 or so.

with that said, there are a lot of things one could have sent $24 on in 2010 that are worth a lot more now.

i haven't bothered trying to sell my set, although now i might go ahead.

Sigggghhhh...

Paying half cover for Ratchet & Clank was grossly overpaying.

It's been quarter box fodder & shop overstock bulk out for years.

I've been buying them there too.

I "KNOW" that I've mentioned it in the past....

If a modern comic is selling well because it's a "media tie in", If you like money, the place to sell those books raw is Amazon. The worlds largest trusted online marketplace.

It's where civilians go first to buy.

You will get more money for your Power Rangers there....

You will get more money for your Hip Hop covers there....

You will get more money for your Over the Garden Wall there....

You will get more money for your Deadpool there....

You will get more money for your Walking Dead there....

You will get more money for your Rick & Morty there....

You will get more money for your My Little Pony there, :)

And you will get more money for your Ratchet & Clank there....

Carry on.

Bought a of these his week:

I believe he was speaking of Amazon. It isn't a particularly good avenue from which to buy comics. Although you suggested selling there, not buying there.

I believe he is saying selling there is better than eBay.

What I have been saying for years is that;

Amazon is the best online marketplace to SELL your RAW media related comics.

That is all.

Simple right?

OK, but sets have been $25-$50 or so for many years.

I picked a few of the issues out of overstock, but I haven't seen many. I would have bought them. How much overstock could there possibly be with those print runs?

I remember the day it came out hitting 2 shops around lunch and getting each of their last copies, so it was a sell out pretty quickly, I just guess it didn't get hyped up much to turn it into a $25 book at the time. being a mini probably didn't help.
