What series do you secretly hate that the comic community always praises?

I couldn't believe my buddy reccommended that stupid book
When I first got back into comics Anita Blake was highly recommended to me. After trying out one of the trades I decided to never buy anything based on any random recommendation, no matter how universally it seems to be liked. Not only did the comic suck, but the art was so Liefeldesque I had to check the credits to be sure it wasn't him illustrating that thing

I was surprised when Gotham Central was good-I expected it to suck like all the other books reccommended to me-fables, league of extraoridinarily stupid gentlemen, walking dead, Y the last man, the list goes on

I dislike a lot of early Vertigo. Seems the early days of Vertigo is the Golden Age of the imprint for a lot of people, and if you were to ask for a Vertigo recommendation you're very likely to get some of the early series as a standard reply. Haven't read all of them (still haven't tried Sandman or Swamp Thing) but everything I did try was a pretty major disappointment. And I'm one who likes the bulk of their later stuff.

You didn't like Fables or Y the Last Man?

I get someone not liking Walking Dead, League of Disturbingly Boring Poorly Drawn Characters, 100 Bullets and Preacher - but I thought the other two were pretty good.

 Oh well!

I can at least understand why people like Y and fables-so that says something-I just didn't care for em

Neal Adams Green Arrow. I understand the significance of the run, but I didn't care much for them, and I hated paying for them back in the early 2000's. I never found the keys in my price range, and gave up.

Guilty pleasure: 90's Namor by John Byrne.

Yes to both.

My guilty pleasures?Collecting drekky Aircel Comics...the worst the better.

Oy,and ive no time for Bone.

Preacher

+1 I couldn't finish the first issue.

Though I'm part of the "comic community always praises" it for this book, I can understand why someone would think that. Especially if not making it past the 1st issue. Ennis is definitely a love or hate kind of guy.

Transmet is one of my all-time favorite books. But the 1st time I read #1, I thought it was horrible. Read it again and forced myself to move forward. The 1st three issues are still the worst for me. But the rest of the series is liquid gold.

Swinging back to Preacher. If a person doesn't enjoy the 1st few issues, they probably are not going to like it at all.

Patrick

I read the first issue of Transmetrolopitan and was convinced it sucked.

I love preacher. It is one of my all time favorite reads. But I found Transmet pretentious the pseudo-intellectual bull Spider spews is so tiring.
