Just FYI: Hono and Hot Toys are one and the same. Hono is just the name they're using for what they are calling their entry level figures, or something to that effect.

Entry level?  What does that mean?  Does it imply a higher-end figure comes later?  And what exactly is entry level about this guy?  Aside from lacking quite as many accessories as many Hot Toys figures come with I wonder what's "entry level" about this release?  ???  The detailing looks as good as any Hot Toys figure I ever see...  hm

Yeah, it's not clear yet exactly what they mean by entry-level. So far it seems that they are a bit less expensive than the very expensive regular Hot Toys releases and they have fewer accessories. It remains to be seen if they cut any corners on the overall quality though. You guys know there is also a Wolverine that they've shown as well right?

Yep, I've got my eye on him as well--he releases a few months before Magneto.  But all I intend to do is watch reviews because I'm already happy with my 12-inch Marvel Legends Wolverine, whereas I lean towards picking up Magneto because he's my one exception as my favorite villain.  The Legends Wolverine is a top 5 of all time action figure across all scales, and there is no possible way the Hot Toys version could ever eclipse him all things considered for an action figure.  Aesthetically Hot Toys will win by quite a bit, but articulation-wise the Legends one will kill it, EASILY, without any real contest.  It's pretty much the same as the 6-inch Legends figure just scaled up with quite a bit more detailing as the pic below illustrates (the twelfth scale figure is the Love Triangle Wolverine from the 3-pack with Cyclops and Jean Grey).

My main issue with Hot Toys remains the same eight years after I first started looking at them--I can pose the guy below however I want for whatever length of time I want, but you can't leave Hot Toys figures in any pose close to the one below because it will degrade the costume and/or joints (depending upon the figure's design) too quickly.

Here's that forthcoming HoTo comic Wolverine.  @Dave2739 -- any idea if these HoTo figures will eventually get a more deluxe release?  I've got no FOMO with Hot Toys, so I can easily wait years if they've indicated they will release two versions of each figure, or if it seems likely that they will eventually.  My guess is they've already said they will release both entry level and deluxe versions or that they'll say it within the next year or so if they haven't already.

Err, I said "HoTo", but I guess it's "Hono".  Wonder why they didn't go with Hoto?  It's like Hot Toys abbreviated, which is particularly apt for a budget Hot Toys line.  hm

I don't believe so. And while I no longer collect 1/6 scale figures, I used to be heavily into it. I still keep up just for fun and this is the website I get most of my news from. Hope it's okay to post here.

Linking to other forums is totally fine, never heard any mod complain about it.

Have you used the Sideshow forums?  I'm guessing those might have more traffic than OneSixthFigures, but I'll definitely check that one out over the upcoming months.  OneSixthFigures sounds better for discussing multiple lines though, although Sideshow seems to end up selling most or possibly all sixth scale figure brands anyway so people discuss more than just Hot Toys and Sideshow figures there.

I visit the Sideshow forums on occasion as well as https://www.onesixthwarriors.com/forums/#front-page-news.137, which I've visited even longer than I've been posting here. But OneSixthFigures is the one I like best for new product announcements, including some of the sketchier stuff from overseas where copyright laws aren't as strictly enforced. That being said, I'm unfamiliar with CollectorFreaks so thanks for the link. I will check them out.

I actually thought Sideshow Freaks WAS Sideshow's forum, but now I'm seeing that's wrong since you go to one but hadn't seen the other.

Actually I think I'm the one that's confused there. I thought Sideshow had a forum with their logo and stuff on it. I might just be out of the loop.

Yea, not sure, I only think about sixth scale stuff every 3 to 6 months, sometimes I ignore that market for a year or more.  But 2-3 years ago I looked at the available forums and thought collectorfreaks.com was the one with the most people who discuss Hot Toys and comparable sixth scale figures.

Over the last year I seriously considered the Hot Toys Ahsoka figures, but reading through the collectorfreaks threads on them I found that both the Clone Wars and Mandalorian versions have those latex-covered elbow joints that look awesome but are highly prone to tearing if you leave them in bent positions.  I really don't want to deal with that kind of headache so I abandoned the idea of buying either.  The idea of being forced to leave my figures in vanilla poses to preserve them offends me.  :sorry:

Those kind of QC issues got me out of collecting both Hot Toys figures and Takara Masterpiece Transformers. I'm out of toy buying/collecting altogether now, but I still like to follow along. Those GI Joe Classifieds are very tempting, especially now that they're putting out stuff like the HISS and VAMP. But I've kicked the habit and I'm going to keep living clean.

Medicom re-released the 2020 Mafex Venom recently that's styled after his original look by McFarlane in Amazing Spider-Man from the early 1990s, and I went ahead and picked it up this time.  I skipped it originally because it's a bit short, but I love Thor which is the same size but even smaller than he should be since Thor is supposed to be 6' 6" and Eddie Brock is 6' 3".  Brock was also supposed to be 260 pounds, and he definitely looks it in the second pic below, whereas the Mafex looks more around 200 or so.  Later artists just kept making Venom bigger and bigger with the symbiote adding a ton of extra height and bulk to its host, so this Mafex version is much smaller than the character is now.

The head in the pic below is probably modelled after the cover to ASM #316 shown below.  LOVE this guy, very glad I finally got him.  This one is better than the 2020 version simply because Medicom has changed their plastic since then and EVERY joint is far tighter than Mafex joints were up until around 2022.

I was excited to find the recent Playmates Star Trek: The Next Generation U.S.S. Enterprise on sale at Target. I had a bunch of the original 1990s Playmates action figures when I was a kid but none of the ships.

I was not excited when it arrived and the box is beat up. I wasn't planning on taking it out of the box, I wanted it for display. The other two items shipped with it weren't damaged and there's only a minor crease on the shipping box. The shipping box was way too big and there was nothing to protect the items, no bubble wrap or packing paper. Nothing.

I'm afraid if I keep opening returns with Target due to damaged items, they'll eventually ban me.

I've been wanting the McFarlane chase Platinum Hawkman for my collection, but it's selling for $150 over here, and I'm not paying that, that's ridiculous. So I did the stupid, and took a gamble and bought one from Popcultcha, where you just buy the Zero Hour Hawkman, and if you're extremely lucky you get the Platinum chase. Worst case, I have to deal with the ugly Zero Hour Hawkman, which I was ready for.

I was home in Brisbane for a few days. The package arrived. My mother opened it for me, and I asked if it had orange parts. She told me it had green pants. Well damn, that's the regular, just as odds would say. I'm stuck with Zero Hour. Oh well. Just to be sure I asked her to send me a photo. This is what she sent me.

It's the Platinum chase I was after!!! I was so happy I nearly jumped off my chair. I couldn't believe my luck, and still can't. My view hasn't changed, that this is a horrible way for McFarlane to sell his figures, but at least I got a character I've been wanting for my display. It made my day.

So there you go. The impossible can happen. I can have good luck! :wishluck:

Congrats! What kills me about the way that he does these chases is that some people don't even WANT the variants, because they don't like the decos, so you have people who don't want them receiving them, while the people who DO want them can't seem to get their hands on them. Crazy way of doing things.

It's horrible. I just want to build a basic JLA and get the few JSA figures they've done. It's hell. Why? I can't tell you. Lots of exclusives, to this American retailer or his online store etc. Thered regular, Gold Label, Platinum, it just goes on. Want to preorder? Hope you did within the first 5 minutes or you're too late. No toys for you. Seriously.

It's NOT a collector friendly line. My advice would be to avoid it. I'm getting a few figures then dipping out asap. For my own sanity.
