. Heard a rumor that Ha.com may be there. :gossip:

I don't see Heritage...

Maybe Allan needs to check the source of his rumors with the MagikMan. hm

Doubt there's any more books like Magik's Suspense 3 or Chris Bell's Vancouver Pedigree Collection for them to find in this local area, which apparently was the reason why a HA rep might be here doing some hunting. (shrug)

Hey Allan;

Any sightings of a HA rep such as Barry Sandavol since that was one of the rumors from a few months ago? ???

Good to hear to that Harley finally decided to attend in person because he used to send in his B-team as this con used to always take place on the same weekend as one of the much bigger and higher profile cons down in California.

Noticed that Kevin's vendor list includes a booth setup by the other grading company. Did Borock decide to attend himself, or is it only his minions that are working this convention? lol

Sample of reasonable back issue prices from Patrick of GA Collectables, Vancouver: :applause:

Good to see that Pat brought some collectable books to the convention this time. (thumbs u

If I remember correctly, the year that I went, it was basically nothing but graphic novels and trade paperbacks. :P

Still looks like nothing coming out from his Chinatown Collection yet. :taptaptap:

I was always disappointed that Patrick never brought out his old books. Glad to see he's doing so this time.

Care to enlighten me on what his Chinatown Collection consists of?

Yes, when I saw this wall rack and saw it was the Golden Age collectibles booth. I had to blink my eyes twice to be sure I wasn't imagining. In the past cons, they only had GNs, TBPs and hardcovers. It was great to get a look on the wall rack. Brought a couple mid grades Chartons there.

Very interesting about the Chinatown Collection. I'd love to take a peek in that collection.

Lou, No idea if Borock was there? I was at this booth to drop off my books and they filled out forms and they are on way with the grader. The specialist (cannot name in here) knew me and I knew him from before. That was it.

I was pleasantly surprised at how well attended the show was for a Friday. Quite a few local guests rolled in late with a few opting to come Saturday and Sunday only.

I ended up moderating two sketch duels this afternoon, which was different.

Yes that guest I mentioned made it into the program by mistake, he just couldn't make it work in the end. Anyway, the guests all had nice things to say about today's fans, I'm expecting tomorrow to be fairly insane.

Kevin, were you in the sketch duel with Dan Parent and Frenando Ruiz this afternoon today? lol I did not realize that was you up stage behind the mic!

I enjoyed the duel and get to learn few things about the artists.

I certainly had fun today. I think I got all the art I wanted to get, other than picking up stuff (ok 1 piece) I set up today I don't really need to go the rest of the con :)

and thanks Kevin for fixing my wristband issue and saved hand from requiring amputation due to loss of circulation!

Wish there were more comic retailers to pillage. The Spice must flow.

Had a good time, though. And really took advantage of Artists Alley for the first time this year.

Bradshaw and Danica are really nice, and have very affordable rates for the quality of work they do.

Jae Lee does amazing work as well, and is collecting as many $5 bills as he can find. Probably for Brandi's.

Tomorrow I'm going to eventually find where Sun Khamunaki is.

Bruce Timm is a G.

Conversation between him, and this guy in front of me in the sketch line.

Guy: Will you use my piece of paper?

Bruce: No.

Guy: Will you do any pencil shading?

Bruce: No.

Guy: Will you draw Galactus?

Bruce: No.

Not sure what the HA rep Barry Sandoval looks like so have not spotted him yet. (shrug)

Overall, thanks to Harley and Patrick, the depth of vintage back issues is better than the 100 table Van Comic Show. Did not see any Centaurs although I did see some 1936-39 GA low grade comics that were not at Van Comic Show last month.

There were more diverse illustrators in Artist Alley than I expected so interesting to walk around there. <3

Thanks for your feedback, Allan. (thumbs u

Just trying to decide if it's worthwhile to take a trip down there, considering the expected large crowds and the $40 or $50 big bucks that it's going to cost me to get through the front doors.

Didn't end up getting anything in the one I attended the other year and also didn't get anything at Emerald Con down in Seattle. Anything that is good seems to be generally priced too high. Of course, maybe I am just too lazy to do any digging at all, but I do seem to have better luck at the smaller local cons. (shrug)

Bruce Timm sure is popular with sketches! I missed out putting my name on. I was in line, as I come up to him... he said sorry, list is full for today. :tonofbricks:

Trying for tomorrow morning.

Prices on the old books that GA had were very fair. Pretty much right at Fair market value.

Great day! Bailed out around 1:30 because the crowd was pretty overwhelming, and the art pieces I had lined up for the day were finished. Will be back tomorrow to mop up a few more, and hammer dealers for end of show deals.

Saw Greggy and Allan, and got to meet Kevin today as well.

Will post some pictures tomorrow when I'm all finished, and have all the art in hand.

Trying for tomorrow morning.

I was inside at 10:55 a.m. before the general public were let in at 11:00 a.m. Timm's sketch list was already full so the public had nil chance to get on sketch list. Heard that vendors and Vancouver's :luhv: '2 and a half men' were putting their name on the sketch list at 9:30 a.m. while we were still at home having breakfast.

Oh well, gathered most of the writer/aritst sigs on comics I needed by 11:20 a.m. so that was fast.

Some aggressive Montreal back issue prices:

e.g. 1st He-man, Skeletor for $200, Detect #25 or 24 missing centerfold for a mere $1,500. Saw Johnny, Homicidal Maniac #1 for $500 loonies (hope that was 1st printing).

Here is Patrick of GA Collectables gladly selling Flash #92 Cgc 4.5 unrestored Black Canary at full sticker price.

Do you know what the price was? Recent GPA data is sparse, that should be a $2000+ book I figure...
