Requesting to send an invoice with the final price and shipping totaled after mere minutes of claiming an item is tense to me. I may want to buy more if the seller lists more items or maybe take advantage of discount offers in their thread before they closed the thread. I don't like being rushed.

I do agree but I believe Roy was speaking specifically about the invoice request, which is not tense per se. :)

 

"Insisting" which was the language used does imply that the transaction was some what tense when hither to for there was no one insisting that he as the seller should invoice them instead of them preparing their own goods and services Paypal payment. That's why he posted, to gain some clarity. So my statement stands. Transactions are not as smooth as they used to be no matter how small the hiccup.

 

There are an immense amount of transactions conducted here without a hitch. The majority of Boardies (certainly the ones I've dealt with) are fantastic to work with, both from a buying or selling aspect. What more are you asking for? People trust each other and there are no fees involved.

If you don't like it, there are plenty of other environments where you can buy or sell :gossip:

If you post an :takeit:in someone's thread, in most cases it's done quickly so you secure the book and prevent someone else getting it.

Why should not a seller invoice quickly? There could be several reasons. They may need the money quickly for another purchase. They may just need the money. They may just want to keep on top of their sales/buyers particularly if they have a lot of stuff to shift.

If getting a speedy invoice upsets you then a quick pm on your part along the lines of;

"Hi.

Got your invoice. I will take care of it in a coupla days if that's ok?

all the best

etc..."

 

You need to pick your battles and don't sweat the small stuff. :)

If the invoices were as sweet as your example there would be no problem. There is no battle "per se". Quick invoicing is as annoying as a fast food cashier asking "Does that complete your order?" repeatedly when you are not finished ordering. I am making a short list of who to no longer patronize so I don't need your advice.

Patience goes a long way.

 

Just politely telling someone "I may want to continue shopping in your thread" sends a message and teaches noobs to relax with the invoicing without even picking a battle.

 

If you have teenagers, you know exactly what I'm talking about. lol

True, I do forget that the boards consists of varied age members. My post wasn't an attack on anyone in particular. There are no rule against quick invoicing or seller requested invoices. It's just a FYI to some sellers that they way they manage their threads may alienate some buyers.

 

Conversely, anyone should be able to air out a complaint without being told to buy or sell elsewhere. I have purchased comics on this board that I don't even see in my local community and the sellers that make this board a fun place to collect comics get their kudos on the feedback thread. However, the ones that need to improve their process need to hear it as well.

There is definitely an increase of new people coming to the marketplace forum that are making buying and selling awkward and tense. My biggest pet peeve are sellers who send a pm for payment info two seconds after you claim an item. Their threads are still going on but they want to wrap up sales instantaneously.

When you have limited assets to put towards comics, and you may or may not get the book because a PM beat you to it, it is actually very helpful to get invoiced right away.

I certainly want to know if I didn't get the book so I can use my funds elsewhere.

I understand your point that the invoice is a nice solid confirmation that you've won something but it probably shouldn't be the first indication you get that you've won a book, more importantly the lack of one being sent isn't a green light to divert funds.

 

I personally have no problem with a quick PM saying "here's my paypal address, let me know when you're ready to check out..." (shrug)

No, I am done with it. Junkdrawer got his answer and I won't have a resolution because there is no problem. You jumped in this mouthing off about a non-issue trying to insult me when I am just making an observation. I always complete my transactions without drama. I just make a note of those who rush me to pay and I choose not to support their threads. Which is basically none of your business. There is definitely an increase of new people coming to the marketplace forum that are making buying and selling awkward and tense. My biggest pet peeve are sellers who send a pm for payment info two seconds after you claim an item. Their threads are still going on but they want to wrap up sales instantaneously.

When you have limited assets to put towards comics, and you may or may not get the book because a PM beat you to it, it is actually very helpful to get invoiced right away.

I certainly want to know if I didn't get the book so I can use my funds elsewhere.

I never found fast invoicing to be a problem. But to each his own (shrug)

 

A seller messaging a buyer that they will get the item they claimed is not the same as two minutes after claiming the item you receive a pm that says "Hey, you won this item. Send me your Paypal info so I can invoice you. The total is x amount."

 

Having to respond repeatedly, "Is your thread closed?" Their response:" No" My response: "Will there be more items?" Their response: "yes or maybe" My response: "Then I'm not ready for an invoice". It gets to be tedious.

 

You really are starting to be tedious yourself now, banging on about this. You sound like a nightmare 'buyer', like you are doing the seller a tremendous favour. Get over it and stop moaning, talk about flogging a dead horse. Perhaps ebay would suit you better where there are tons of buyers who 'buy' items and then take their own sweet time, making honest sellers wait interminably for payment. :eyeroll:

 

No, I am done with it. Junkdrawer got his answer and I won't have a resolution because there is no problem. You jumped in this mouthing off about a non-issue trying to insult me when I am just making an observation. I always complete my transactions without drama. I just make a note of those who rush me to pay and I choose not to support their threads. Which is basically none of your business. So you ,sir, are none factor and can keep your insults to yourself.

Only thing needful is for you to move along. Your opinion will not override mine. Your response to my response is tedious. I am done with airing my complaint but you are moving it beyond that point.

Yeah,for my part it is. I have him on ignore. Apparently, I am supporting the wrong threads. lol No one else is having the same issues so I am moving on. I appreciate everyone who just said objectively that they are not having a problem with the invoicing without telling me my only option is to stop buying on the boards. Which is not an option.
