Won't Zaslov think of the people that spec'd hard on Batgirl / Batman '89 / Firefly?
What're they to do now...?

Never Speculate/GAMBLE on DC!  Way too much risk, too little reward. Outliers exist but they are far and away exceptions.  Stick with Marvel folks, even if Moon Knight be seriously chillin'

I guess now would be a good time to buy a Detective 359.

Wait a bit longer for a lower price.

There is still easy money to be made on DC speculation if you pay attention, just like Marvel. And FWIW, right now it is the SW titles, not Marvel super-heroes, where the consistent wins are from the DIS perspective.

While it sucks for the creative team on the film, this move signals that 1) the new ownership and WB management team is focused on the right thing = :flipbait:, and 2) they may actually come up with a plan first for a more coherent DCEU on the big screen.

That being said, it is a sad state of affairs when this is the situation with the DCEU on the big screen:

Aquaman 12 Variant

Or from the WB-D press release 'not meeting new theatrical expectations' was the issue.

This is kind of what I was thinking, if they really have shot most/all of the movie already.  I'm surprised they wouldn't at the very least put it out on HBOMax or something.  Unless it's just real bad.

WB-Discovery finally coming out and noting it does not qualify for its go-forward theatrical level, and that it was not a reflection on the performance should have put this to bed.

But there will be those that assumed they are in the board room making the decisions. Nothing you can do about that.

I've only seen a handful of superhero movies because I like good movies with plot, character development, good acting and good writing.  I can understand why people like them, they are like carnival rides, but you're not talking great films, I'm not sure why someone gets offended at that idea.   Movies can be just fun escapism, not everything has to be CASABLANCA, THE USUAL SUSPECTS or SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION.

Apparently this one did so poorly at an audience screening they felt the DCEU would be damaged as a whole so it was better to take the tax right off.

I'm never going to complain that a bad movie doesn't get made.  Anyone ever see the 1979 LEGENDS OF THE SUPERHEROES?  I sure would have liked someone to put that one out of its misery before it made it to TV screens.

If DC is riskier than Marvel or SW and the payoffs are lower then does not seem smart to me, unless initial "investments" are significantly lower.    Why accept higher risk for lower ROI, when the same seed money can used much safer with higher ROI?

From an actuarial standpoint the tax-write off represented sounder fiscal ground.  Looking into it any deeper is divergent from Warner/Discovery's only actual goal of $$$$. Of course that would make for a boring short thread :)

It’s called reading between the lines.  Like, this is more or less what I would expect them to say to try and save face, as opposed to “this movie sucks” and insulting everyone involved for no reason.

Complete DC reset? Aquaman will come out. So will Shazam, and Black Adam. Is this also bad for the Flash? Especially with all of Miller's issues. Likely everything announced before the Discovery purchased and is not actually filming is done.

To me it sounds like it a little of both worlds - It most likely would have been fine as a straight to streaming movie, but the moment they wanted to put it anywhere else the expectations changed and it would have for sure came off as a horrible release (The minute they announced the theatrical release it made it seem like "oh, this movie is TOO GOOD for streaming then I guess if they are moving it to theatres!"...which would have just really skewed our expectations)

Either way I refuse to believe a movie with JK Simmons, Michael Keaton, and the legendary return of Brendan Fraser is somehow worse than Morbius, a movie that they deemed worthy or releasing TWICE :D
Just give us trash films, no body is expecting Nolan or Endgame quality here, I would rather a trash release than nothing!

This image of the comments be posted on Leslie Grace's Instagram account are extremely cruel. Not sure how many puppies she kicked to deserve this.

I'm so glad I'm not on social media. It's more like a social disease.
