Batgirl was a project green-lit by previous management. Batgirl doesn't fit in the current DCEU. It makes more sense that they axed this for creative reasons rather than financial. Continuing with sequels and projects related only to the already-established universe makes total sense if they want to stop confusing their audience.

The latest cut that they had may not be all that bad, but if it doesn't fit the new plan, it's their money to waste. (shrug)

Just for reference.  List of things killed or cancelled by Discovery since it acquired WB. Do you really think they are going to stop?  The list is also fairly broad in the areas of media it covers.

It's definitely not over. I have no idea their game plan, but they are clearly cleaning house.

Maybe Disney should do this too?

Starting to see rumors that Gotham Knights and Supergirl may be on the block also.

Apparently, some of the reshoots to Aquaman and wanted reshoots for Flash (what a mess this one is), are to remove lead ins to Batgirl and Supergirl that were included in those films.

We shall see. I have no problem with using Batgirl or Supergirl, as long as they don't replace Batman and Superman.

There's room enough for all these characters if done right.

I saw a rumor on Twitter yesterday that Keaton's Batman may be in jeopardy, due to:

  • The cancellation of Batgirl; and
  • Supposedly (?) replacing his cameo in Aquaman 2 with Ben Affleck

Which would leave only The Flash with his portrayal.

Again the rumor is that Keaton had 4 or 5 scenes in Batgirl that were tied into the Flash.

 

The bigger issues is Batgirl, Supergirl, and Flash were all tied together to a degree.   Now one film is already gone, and the other two are also being mentioned as at risk.

I was excited for Firefly and Keaton's Batman. I know nothing of the writers, directors, or lead actress so I had no expectations from any of them.

Yes, tons, including me. I don't care that the actor is a ridiculous mess, I care about his portrayal of The Flash because of his performance (and the writing) in ZSJL.
