eccomic
That's a nice looking 5.5. Mad #1 is a cool book, but it's common and seems to be on a downturn of late (I wouldn't know if that applies to the Canadian version or not). That's a nice looking 5.5. Mad #1 is a cool book, but it's common and seems to be on a downturn of late (I wouldn't know if that applies to the Canadian version or not). ecgt
I agree that it's a really nice looking 5.5 I haven't been paying much attention to EC's humour comics, so I wasn't aware that there was a Canadian version of # 1 (and probably others). ecgt
Also, I've seen that ad on the back of one of my wife's horror comics recently. Let me see if I can track that down.
ecgt
I wasn't crazy. Here's my wife's copy of Mysteries Weird and Strange # 9 with the same ad.
buttock
Here is one you never see. Mad # 1 Canadian Edition Only FIVE (5) copies extant on the CGC Census of the Canadian edition versus its American counterpart at 305 copies. This is the highest graded Universal Blue copy Certified by CGC: When I acquired it in its raw uncertified state Interesting article published in the Comic Book Marketplace Awesome pick up! I can't read the indicia, does it say when it was printed?
ecgt
I'm pretty sure it says 1953.
eccomic
I'm pretty sure it says 1953. There is NO date on the indicia, as with all Canadian Superior Editions of EC comics Edited February 5, 2016 by eccomic
ecgt
You got me! For some reason, I misread that as "what's the date on the slab." I shouldn't be having Monday moments on a Friday!
ecgt
Out of curiosity, Stephen, what's the last issue of Mad that Superior put out in Canada?

427Impaler
Maybe my eyes are getting old, but that looks much nicer than the grade. I had just read online about the existence of Mad #1 in a Canadian variant and thought "I've never seen that one before..." Surf in here and there it is!! Hap Hazard
just picked this up, its from 1947 Freelance issue 35 how common is this issue?
Bronty
I would hazard more common given those would be issues with some US distribution
BEAUMONTS
I don't know much about the scarcity of these Canadian published books, but I found this in a box of misc comics that I forgot I had.
ecgt
That's actually the last issue of Freelance. Most of the later-run issues of Freelance are easier to track down than other WECA books, but for some reason I haven't seen a copy of issue 35 available for sale in some time.
