SD Con 2018 Gathering 3 3

My SD Con attendance was brief but, happily, included the gathering at RareHighGrade's.  Pizza is supplied outside on the patio, along with a variety of fruit snacks and salad from the lovely Mrs. Rarehighgrade.  With perfect weather and a peaceful atmosphere far removed from the madness that is SD Con, spirits and conversation flow with ease until we realize that it's time to look at comics!

Timely kicked off the session with just copies of just one issue. 

The boy lacks a certain amount of imagination.  Just sayin.

We were joined by little John Veryzl and his sister Rose who shared comics from their collection and a few stories about their father.

As usual, Mr.Bedrock brought a wide variety of stunning copies including a very red Batman 49.

Another knockout of a comic from MrB.

The back cover was as stunning as the front.

Nearmint's prize was a fitting tribute to the 4th of July

He also brought a number of other WWII themed superhero covers.  He has the best looking 8.0 - 9.0s.

GAtor shared a very select subset of his famously complete Centaur collection that included some of his favorite covers and issues.  It's hard to disagree with his choices!

A non-Boardie brought this 1940s Superman hood ornament.  I don't think it would last long if you put it on your car and left it in the parking lot at SD Con.

The rule of the night: if you're only going to bring one book, go BIG!

This beautiful Christmas cover issue of Jumbo is the size of a placemat.  Open it up, and there's another cover inside with incredible red colors.  Mmmmmm.  Red.

Enucleator brought a couple colossal comics with a gorgeous copy of one of the best GA Green Lantern covers as well as the best copy of Colossus Comics.  Man, was it bright.

Cat brought an interesting selection of pulps to add some variety to the show.

This was swiped for a comic book cover.  Does someone know which one?

Cat's bag also included a few sweet Timelys.

dem138 is too shy for a picture but his books, especially this Baker romance, were very photogenic.

Many thanks to our host and his family for putting up with a pack of comic book nerds for an evening.  

I think this only happens once a year because that's how long it takes to recover from us.
