For issues like this Batman issue and those late V1 ASMs... you can see whether it's a newsstand or not from the thumbnail. There are OFTEN issues that aren't marked as newsies being sold for as much as the directs for that issue go for. And in my case there was a seller with issues cheaper than the directs for those issues, I could see they were newsies in the thumbnails, I offered 35-50% of their listed price on a bunch of issues and this morning they accepted them all.

Can't wait to show y'all the wares, a few look to have 9.8 potential maybe but we'll see how they look in hand

Cheap AND a fast shipper wow 

For about $4 an issue shipped I am super happy with these. All of them are individually graded on the back from 9.2-9.6. Hopefully I can press a few 9.8's out of these. 441 and 419 are two of the issues marked 9.6 so hopefully I can get those to 9.8. 441 is the last issue and 419 is the 1st Black Tarantula. Not valuable but has some sentimental value to me and these were the issues that were running when I was picking them up off of Meijer's spinner rack and I thought Black Tarantula was super cool

I got nearly all the keys in this volume (but not Newsstand) recently raw at various stores for $1-2, but none were Newsstands and not all were in great shape .....

Thanks! I was thrilled to get it - it was on Dig, and you couldn't really tell it was newsstand until you clicked through. It was in the listing description but wasn't immediately obvious on the main page because of the character count in their descriptions, except if you squinted at the thumbnail. So I ended up winning it for basically dead on current FMV for a regular 9.6, which is only $90. And I love this book either way, so I was happy!

I was flipping through my Batman and Detective newsstand issues this morning.  I managed to find every single one of them from the time direct sales issues were started in DC Comics (with cover dates of October 1980) until they stopped making newsstand editions in October 2017.  I was amazed to see the AVERGE grade of my newsstand issues was 9.4 to 9.6, with the lowest grades being VF-.   I made a point over the years to replace the ones with spine dings, dog ears, etc and I continue to do that.  

In my opinion, some of the toughest newsstand issues to find occurred from the late 700 issues in Detective until the earliest issues of New 52 when newsstand issues started to be a thing.  Here's a photo of TEC 800 thru 813 newsies just for fun.  Note TEC 802 has two versions shown (the non-stickered error version, and the sticker they put on the cover to fix the error).  The error was that part of the bar code was missing (really hard to find with or without sticker).

 A friend of mine has also managed to find all of them except TEC New 52 issue #'s 45 and 48.   If you have any of those you are willing to sell, let me know and I will help him out

Love that Acuna variant cover on Hulk #1, reminds me of Richard Corben and Tanino Liberatore's RanXerox. Much much better than the regular one or other variant cover

A super tough book and no I did not buy this in 9.8. I purchased this in Mid teens of 2010 era and found it in back issue bin for $5.00. Sent to grading and boom! A super tough book in this grade and one I think will get some major attention moving forward as it’s first appearance of Agent Venom Flash Thompson.
