Here's one of my very favorite Atlas covers. I had a nice midgrade copy that I sold to October some 4-5 years back, and of the hundreds of books I've sold since then it's one I've most regretted letting go of. I've been actively looking for one ever since, and this recent ebay auction was my first chance. Very pleased to have picked this up!

So many Everett horror covers like this one make me smile every time I see them. :headbang:

The cover ghouls sure look happy, don't they? lol I think I wouldn't love this cover half as much if they simply looked menacing.

Definitely belongs here! :applause: I really like seeing both the store stamp and the date stamp.

I like looking up the addresses shown in the stamps. The Bethlehem one is fun because it doesn't look like the area has changed much in the last 60 years and you can almost see the kids walking out of the store front comic in hand.

Nice one. I bid halfheartedly on that one -- will have to get a copy eventually. Congrats!

It's actually changed a substantial amount over that time. The area is about two blocks away from what was the Bethlehem Steel plant. It's now a Sands casino. Sixty years ago, with the steel plant employing more than 30,000 people, south Bethlehem (south of the Lehigh River, which runs right next to the plant) was populated by a mix of workers from the steel plant -- many from Eastern Europe -- and students from Lehigh University, which is a few blocks to the south.

The students are still there, but the Eastern Europeans have largely departed and there is now a large Puerto Rican population. Lately, a significant Asian population has begun working at the casino and living in the area.

It is remarkable that a relatively small area like the Lehigh Valley produced both the Bethlehem and Allentown collections (Allentown is literally right next door to Bethlehem -- the two cities run into each other).

More than you ever wanted to know about the Lehigh Valley! :D

Very nice looking copy despite the tape. Seems like a fair price considering what Everett Atlas PCH can go for.

I think the stamp is very interesting, "PASS. NEWS". Is this a newsstand stamp?

In a lot of cases, that grade'll do.

Absolutely! But it's always nice to find a higher grade from time to time. (thumbs u
