I've been buying them for years, many were at a good price, some not so much. CGC will not grade a book that they cannot leaf through. No one will.

What is the highest and lowest price you've paid for one of the three-packs? Do you own all of them now?

And it's understandable that CGC won't bother. Hard to tell whether or not it's been repackaged and the contents are not totally legitimate.

In the meanwhile, I'm creating a visual key/guide for the rare Whitman comics. Hard to go through a text list when sellers don't always write out the issue number.

No idea what the highest price would have been. Too many to keep track of

IIRC, you said that all of the rare Whitmans priced as 50c/60c are reprints and not worth collecting, right? Or are they just not as valuable as their 40c originals, but still uncommon?

Never said any of them were reprints (some used the same covers and stories I believe) By the time the 50 cent books came out, they figured out their distribution issues. The exception being the 40 cent price variants from 1/81. There are two price versions of the following: Donald Duck 225, Huey Dewey and Louie 67, Uncle Scrooge 182, Little Lulu 262, WDCS 484, Bugs Bunny 223, Super Goof 63 and Pink Panther 78. The 40 cent versions of those books are the tougher ones to find.

I know the Super Goof #60 is on the rare list, but I'm not quite sure why... the code ends in 007, which makes it a July book, not part of the August-December rare zone, if I understand it?

Got it, thanks. Specifically those, and not any others.

I don't like how Doug Sulipa's site is so poorly written and designed. It hurts to look at, lol.

Also, the prices he charges are arguably just as bad or worse than Mile High Comics.

Those are market prices. Just because I found a clone wars 1 for a dollar,  that does not mean the book isn’t worth what people are paying. Look at the last sold on Huey 65 for example.

Maybe people include the SG 60 because it's known to turn up in bags with books that are in the zone?  The image @bellrules posted had it bagged with the WDC&S 479, which definitely is in the zone.

The WDC&S series itself isn't super valuable compared to many of the others, anyway.

@OtherEric I'm on a roll. Might as well just go through the entire rare Whitman list and see what's being sold for cheap.

Still not as rare as my 91 , although I do wonder if Comic is CGC 9.2 or higher which would command more at auction. I've a suspicion it might not be the art???

Nice, original art. I think that they can't really be compared, since original art doesn't garner nearly as much exposure as actual comic issues.

However, if you were to bundle it together with an actual issue that's at least Fine or Near Mint, I think that would make it worth quite a pretty penny.
