In regards to this thread, I personally never like threads or posts where the lead is "I am in financial crisis, and need money". I get that there are reputable people who have legitimately been in such a scenario and sold stuff by leading with that info, but for me it is a personal turn off and could...COULD...be trying to appeal to potential buyers in two ways; by getting you to feel sorry for their situation and, potentially providing a reason why valuable items are being offered at a very good price. It is a classic way to scam people. And the smart comic book scammers have books....maybe they are their own, maybe stolen ones. So they come to a place like this, sell some legitimately, gain trust and then try to do what they can to scam (like this if it is the case) so they can walk away with 10k and still have the books so they can continue said scam in a year's time, on another platform or whatever.

Really hoping that is not the case but a sinking feeling is telling me it is here. Like I said, these instances here are usually few and far between but have happened. Perhaps something needs to be put in place where you need to be a member for "x" amount of years before you can start selling? I dunno......

I agree completely with your comment regarding "help me" threads. However, there have been many cases in the past where I have been happy to help. But only when those threads were created by well-established, respected and trusted CGC board members. For instance, when Andy (Thirdgreenham) requested some financial help via comic sales at the start of this year boardies bought up all his books quicker than you could say George Bailey!

I've been watching this thread and the following stands out to me:

  • This is a lot of freak out with less than a week having gone by since his last contact with buyers.
  • As @skypinkblu has stated, most of this discussion belongs in a different thread.
  • A few board members have already convicted this board member and our working on the penalty phase.
  • If I was the seller and was seeing this, I'd want to cancel all transactions and never sell here again.

If this is a situation where the seller turns bad, then there are lots of ways to deal with that.  If it turns out they have a death in the family (or similar), there's no good way to take back what some have written here.  I think you guys should take a breath and give him a chance to get things sorted.  2c

Well. You're right. Less than a week. And about $10,000 in books unaccounted for... Seller has been active on the boards 3 times since any contact with me or the other buyer(s) ,as recently as yesterday, ZERO CONTACT and it's been 6 days since I paid/we paid...

So basically your input is BS.

Yes.  He did.   I bought one and then another the next day.  I paid for the first but didn’t pay for the second until after both had shipped.  Not really that unusual, I’ve been around a long time on the boards. A lot of boardies have done that.

Maybe @CGC Mike can clean this up, as I totally agree this sales thread has been carpped upon. There is a life outside of comic books (hopefully). This is the absolute busiest time of year for me, so I have been slow on a lot of my tasks.

I must pay too fast - no one has ever shipped me a comic before I coughed up the dough. :(

He was in a desperate situation and is now silenced.   Is that normal?

About three years ago, I noticed a last visitation on the convention that I NEVER visited that page so I changed my password.  No one hacks mine here ever since.

It's possible that someone may hack his username to catfish you.  The real board member may be unaware of his account has been hacked.  I don't know if @CGC Mike can check this account.

I'm also surprised that the thread hasn't been locked by now. 

I understand the anxiety, but there are more appropriate venues that were created specifically to deal with these situations.
