Currently this request for information is on page 7 of this thread. I could see someone affected by this seeing the thread for the first time, reading a couple of pages and get discouraged concluding that it’s just business as usual for Heroes Restoration and click out of the thread without ever making it to page 7. 

Granted, there’s this thread and the locked thread, so I could see why Mike might be hesitant to allow a 3rd thread about this.

That's a pretty good point. This is a pretty monumental topic that affects a wide variety of people, almost all of which are CGC customers (either before or after restoration is/was/will be performed). It'd also be effective seeing this as a pinned post. I'm sure a non-incendiary, unbiased thread topic could be wordsmithed to keep CGC out of legal entanglements.

I am looking into perhaps simply setting up a secure online form people can use to enter basic information (nothing personal or monetary) and so we can have a centralized list (otherwise we risk comments all over the place and DM's going to multiple people). Once I figure that out and have it setup we can consider making a single stickied thread in general (which we can lock to not have comments and just direct people to the form)

Perhaps reaching out to @Cantina201 to see if he'd edit his first post to include a statement/link to Page 7 might also be a good compromise to starting another thread?

I might be completely off base, but what makes you think Hero Restoration wants to return these comics?

Based solely on what I have read on these boards, I believe Hero still imagines - rightly or wrongly - that he will at some point be able to finish all of the promised work and salvage his reputation (and not have to repay any of his customers). I think if he wanted to return the comics to his customers, as repeatedly requested, he would have already done so. I sincerely hope I'm wrong, but I think on the off chance you are able to establish contact with him he is going to tell you to go :censored: yourself.

And that's probably how Heroes Restoration has been able to get away with this for so long:  his customers acquiesce to his delay tactics and verbal abuse because they know (and he knows) that as individuals there's really nothing much legally they can do to pursue this.  If they try and push him, he can just tell them to :censored: off.  What are they going to do?

But I would think this time it's going to be different.

Because now the information of all these individual customers has been brought together, now all these individuals are going to be aware of each other and how much money/property is involved in total, and when Matt approaches HR with this solution, he's representing these customers as a group.

Based on HR's previous profanity-laden, self-serving, blame-shifting responses it's probably very likely he'll just tell Matt to :censored: off just like he's always done in the past.  But I suspect that this time the consequences for doing so will be a little more dire.  Because while the individual grievances of these customers may not be enough to get law enforcements attention, as a group it may be a different story.

 

I get what you're saying and I'm not overly optimistic.  But at the same time, there's been too much capitulation to this guy's shenanigans, at some point there has to be some serious push, because one thing is crystal clear:  HR is never going to get this taken care on his own.

I hope when he's approached, he can swallow his pride (and keep whatever personality disorder he has in check) and see this for the opportunity to get out of this mess that it is.

@MattTheDuck, I have no skin in this game but really want to thank you for doing this.

I can't help thinking about those pics that Hero Restoration posted early on in the summer thread... they were pics of rows of short boxes of books organized by deadline months from *just the past year*... and we already know people here who have been waiting *years and years* for their book(s).

We may never know the full numbers of books and affected customers, but this is a great start. I suspect those numbers would shock even those of us who have followed the saga thus far.

He better hope this isn’t the case, not only for the victims but also his own sake.  Otherwise his criminal exposure will get significantly worse.

 I love the fact that so many people are willing/want to do something for the victims of HR, but if you think for one moment this guy is gonna release any or all of these high dollar books he has held hostage for years to a complete stranger merely because he asks nicely, you are are gonna be seriously disappointed. This wouldn’t even make good business sense for him and opens him up to even more liability. Why would he just automatically start trusting anyone?

 The reason these people have not gotten these books back is NOT because “HR is incapable of sending said books back”! They have not gotten their books because he doesn’t care and doesn’t want to send them back! If he needed and wanted help, he would have just asked. He’s not that type of person.

 Anyone planning on communicating with him in person needs to be very, very careful based on what he has said and how he has said it. Especially if what he has said is true! He may be in a very desperate state!

 The only way this should be moved forward is with legal, law enforcement avenues in my humble opinion.

My 2 cents…
