Yep... just to see if he could... just like he wrote one horror book called "Firefly"... which I thought was better that most of his fantasy... The porn book is called, of all things, "Pornucopia"... For a long time, you could only get it off his 1-800 number and even then, only if you faxed a copy of your driver's license. It was out of print for over a decade but is in print now from what I understand. You'll never look at an ice cream sundae the same way again... Mephisto
• Old Tools, but not agressively. I came across an old "mini-meat grinder" and "hand drill" at a garage sale and thought they were cool. What kind of "Tools" are we talking about here Bruce? With names like "hand drill" and "mini-meat grinder" I am a bit confused...and concerned. Edited January 29, 2004 by Mephisto44
Ian_Levine
I know those pieces are out of my price range, Ian. Have you ever thought of putting some pieces up for auction? Chris A friend of mine, who deals a lot on e-bay, came round once and photographed five of them (Pinocchio, Captain Hook, an elf from Fantasia, a couple of others) and put them on e-bay, but there were no bids at all. Ian_Levine
I know those pieces are out of my price range, Ian. Have you ever thought of putting some pieces up for auction? Funnily enough, my favourite piece is the exact scene from The Little Mermaid, where Ursula says "Now look at me - wasted away to practically nothing" which also is married up with the original background, as she flops upside down, grossly blubbery, tentacles flailing. You might try and auction house, like Heritage or Sotheby's. Ebay reaches a large group of prospective buyers, but my guess is, the animation cells you have would do better in a private auction environment. More likely to draw SERIOUS collectors. I would think the hard core collectors would be more likely to look at auction catalog's than scan eBay for this type of thing. When you put them on eBay, did you notice if there were any other similar auctions up? How did you acquire yours? Were they eBay purchases? Did you buy them from another collector? Disney? Freiherr
My Tenchi Cels came from a verified dealer and another collector. There are 4-5 on ebay at any time, but they rarely sell high if at all. People don’t want to buy unless they know what they are getting. A verified cel has a cost difference as that of a raw and a CGC 9.6 of the same book. I would imagine it is the same with Disney, but to a higher extreme. That's why I suggested that Ian try an Auction house. He would have to pay a fee for consignment, but the auction house could verify the authenticity of the piece. I imagine those Disney pieces must be in the $1000's. I think the hard-core collectors will pay (just like comic collectors) the premium attached to autheticated merchandise. Chris Key master set-ups (original backgrounds of key scenes in the movie with accompanying cels) can run 10's of thousands (or more). The image below is listed at $29k on this site. There was an article in one of the animation art mags several years back hypothesizing on the 1st $1M animation art sale, and I believe the example they used was the image of the Wicked Witch in Snow White with the apple. Joe M (All Star Auctions) apparently has an incredible collection, and the current Heritage auction has some animation art so there is crossover between our hobbies. (And yes, I did collect animation art in the early 90's but my collection probably compares to Ian's just like my DC collection does!! )

fiendish
I'm trolling used book stores for non-Tarzan Edgar Rice Burroughs paperbacks; the older, the better. I'm about halfway to a complete set. Also out-of-print PlayStation RPGs, like "Valkyrie Profile," which is REALLY HARD TO FIND for less than $50. What else would you recommend (bearing in mind that I hate fantasy) ? As I mentioned in the original post, his Bio of a Space Tyrant series is some of his best, a five-part sci-fi series focused on a character named Hope Hubris, following his rise from migrant worker to President of Jupiter. Crowzilla
Movie posters - which breaks down into two main sections: 1) Universal Horror title cards and best scene cards. 2) Godzilla junk (thankfully which I'm pretty much complete on) That right there keeps me pretty broke, but I do like to add the the super cool Pink Floyd or Zeppelin piece to my Rock and Roll collection and am a huge Sheryl Crow collector. Darthdiesel
2) Godzilla junk (thankfully which I'm pretty much complete on) I remember back in 1977 or 1978, I got a 2 foot Godzilla that spit fire (a motorized lighter mechanism in its mouth would give off sparks) - I was 3 and I cried when I saw it so my parents took it away and returned it and came back with a Voltes V (Mazinger - style robot) with a fist that shot off and I used it to terrorize my little sister in later years... I remember that Godzilla toy! Similar story....there used to be a toy called "Mar-zon" (it was an inflatable robot that was motorized). I had to have it. On Xmas day, there he was in all his glory! My parents started it up and I went screaming for the hills! Chris
