Mine is on order
From whom?

mycomicshop.com

I was going to try through a local comic shop but couldn't guarantee that I would get the Heath cover version.

I just ordered mine through Gemstone's website. No discount, but free shipping and no tax for me. Seemed like an easy way to guarantee the Heath cover version.

Heh, just got a note from Gemstone congratulating me because I ordered the book while there was a "glitch" in their web site. Shipping should not have been free. I was wondering why I had the opportunity to select standard, UPS 2 Day, UPS Next Day, and USPS Priority all for no additional cost. lol!

Great "War Report" in this year's Overstreet 46th edition that just came out.

Great job by Matt Ballesteros and Boardies Andy, Mick and Shep!

Thank you very much, guys!!! (thumbs u

Matt is a boardie as well, but I can't remember his handle. He's a voyeur---he likes to watch. :gossip:

Mick told me that Russ signed HC OPG on the first page and signed 9 comic books that CGC takes care of mine.

While I tried to get the HC OPG from my LSC but that book wasn't released until the beginning of SDCC but Mick got other copy for me. Can't wait to get the two copies soon. Of course, I won't see my 9 comic books in two or three months later. I will update with you guys.

You can tell me what was going on at the show and SDCC dinner (hopefully Russ was with you last night).

:acclaim: What a great war comic dinner this year! I am still amazed I got to attend; this was my first time attending the dinner. I got to sit next to Andy, which was so cool. (thumbs u Andy is such a kind person, I've messaged him many times over the years and he's been the biggest help to me as I've collected DC war books these past few years.

So it was really great to meet you my friend. I met Cullen and Dan across the table from us too :hi: . Although we had a great time talking about war comics one of my fave times was when we discussed the first appearance of the Smurfs. :o

I knew I was among my people when we could verge from golden age books to Russ Heath Atlas covers to the Smurfs within three minutes in a conversation. lol

I want to especially thank Mick. (worship) You sir did a fantastic job of organizing everything, and I greatly appreciated meeting you, and loved listening to your history of the war comics dinners. You were most eloquent in sharing about the great Russ Heath. I thank you for helping him and honoring him the way you did. And thanks so much for all your great communication on these boards for someone like me. This dinner was a highlight for me in many ways. :applause:

I got to speak with Russ Heath and he signed my copy of the Pedrin guide and a Battle of the Bulge comic I brought with me. It was such a thrill to meet you Mr. Heath!

Here's my and my buddy (at left) from up north, Andy Greenham. (thumbs u

I got to thank Mr. Heath for his art, which is very meaningful to me. He's a very kind and cool man. One of the greatest comic artists of all time.

You're welcome, Michael.

Truly, I am just gratified that it makes Russ Heath happy. It's always been a MAJOR priority of our group to provide these old creators with some laughs, a chance for some recognition by their fans, a way to connect with their old friends and colleagues, and an opportunity to make a bit of cash. We accomplished all four as far as I can surmise. I'm going to wait for the dust to settle a bit and come up with the final amount that we will be splitting between Russ Heath and Sam Glanzman.

Major kudos to Mick-

This was the 20th anniversary of my first war dinner, and I had a blast as always. It was great seeing old friends and making new friends as well (and putting faces and names to familiar board handles!).

Because of these dinners, I have had the opportunity to meet Kubert, Haney, Estrada, of course Russ!, Novick, Glanzman, and numerous other creators whose work I greatly admire, as well as having conversations with Grandenetti and Esposito by phone. This is all due to Mick's tireless work behind the scenes to contact, fund, and coordinate the logistics involved in such a big task, year after year.

Thanks again, Mick, you are one in a million!

I'll post some pics as well, but I don't know if there will be any better ones than Chag's (Mervin's).

I had an absolute blast this trip. I was only at the show for the tail end of Wednesday, but I did get all of Thursday and all of Friday in.

The highlight was meeting the legend, Russ Heath. He was very kind and accommodating. A funny guy, as well. I sure hope he is able to make another go of it next year. :wishluck:

He's 90 (or nearly 90) right now, and mobility is appearing to be an issue. I'm so proud of him for coming out this year and extremely thankful as well.

I bought a gorgeous painting of his in the auction at the war comics banquet. 70 years old!! I'll post it later. I bought a few more little sketches and prints from him later on in the night.

I've been to this dinner twice now, and it has always been a lot of fun. Mick has chosen a great venue and puts on a fun show. 20 years, wow!! Take a friggen bow, Mick! :applause:

--the show was great as well. I heard the show wasn't very good for comics, but I found quite a lot. Picked up a really sweet OFF 71 on the Friday.
