Marvel Preview. #7

This was something different.. Was at my LCS and found something cool..(Marvel Preview #7). What makes this book a neat piece, is the fact it's the 1st appearance of Rocket Raccoon and print run on these magazine style books were low. So yeah, I thought it was a cool find. Marvel Superheroes #18

Kinda settled for this one... Wasn't thrilled about settling for this copy..Mainly because I was chasing a CGC 7.5 earlier in the week..Man this was a pain to chase. But with this being the 1st appearance of the Guardians, i really can't complain. This particular copy being a PGX 6.5 that means regrading..kinda sucks! This was a pain in the to win..Hit the pocket a little as well. I figured i'd win this for bit cheaper, but no. Anyway, here it is.. To see old comments for this Journ

Thanos Solo Story

Logan's Run #6 is really starting to pick-up steam, mainly because of Thanos. I always thought this book was very underrated, but no longer. This book has such a great intro story to Thanos. It's a short story, but beautiful artwork by probably one the industries greatest cover artists Mike Zeck. If you're a Thanos fan, get this book...you won't regret it! My LCS

Well, decided to drive in snow to my local shop.. As soon as walk over to the counter and look up, I see this book... Iron Man #55 1st Thanos. I couldn't imagine walking out the door without it! The book is snow white and just pops!! I made a trade for this book..Toys!!! This is a benefit for someone like me who also collects toys. I ended up trading some opened toys that were just overhead, and I've been chasing a good copy of this book for the past year. I've seen seen toasty copies on eBay

A Wild Wolverine

This would have to be my favorite Wolverine cove..Ever!! I remember when I first seen this issue, I was around 9 at the time. To me seeing this cover at the time answered all the questions I had about what kind of character Wolverine was, a loner, hero who didn't give a mess how or which way he was going to finish things. This issue itself was signed by Byrnes on the interior 1st page. CGC was not around at the time. But this issue is in perfect shape. Even if it gets a

Speaking of Claremont

One of my all Time favorites. The man help resurrect and create some of Marvels greatest characters for one team. But my all time favorite one book Claremont wrote would have to be God Loves Man Kills. I have a loose copy sitting on my dresser in a Mylar just waiting for a sig by the man. But here are two books that I do have signed by Claremont. The Starwars issue would have to be my favorite from the two..but just by a hair. To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. Perez at Motor City Comic Con

I just read Tnerbs journal on Claremont being at ECCC.. It sounds like an amazing show to attend. I usually attend around 3 cons a year, Motor City, C2E2, and Wizard World Chicago. As I was reading this Journal, I could not believe how much comic collector's have in common. Perez will be at Motor City this May, and I will be getting my X-Men #112 signed..But I love collecting Signatures as well. These Geniuses won't be around much longer. It's a sad thought. Here's the copy I'll have Mr. Pere

1st Silver Samurai

Just checked the census on this issue, and by my surprise... There's not many graded. Especially in high grade..I'm a little surprised. I guess it's not a huge 1st, but if there is a collector out there looking for mutant villains 1st app, this would be a huge one. And now with the new wolverine movie coming out this Summer, I'm curious if we'll see more graded. A couple year's back I remember when Surfer99 showing and talking about this issue and how significant it was, and I was just blown

My Day Off

Since it was my day off, I decided to head out to my local comic shop. But before heading out I decided to bring some stuff with me to trade "just in case I seen something good." Tho owner purchased all of the stuff brought. He usually likes what I bring in to his store. I would end up getting part cash, part credit..That was fine. There's a book I needed to purchase on eBay and the store credit went to this beauty..Uncanny #266 1st Gambit. I thought my day off went quite well. It looks like a

My Other Passion

Comics will always come before toys, but damn!! the toys that are coming out now just blow me away. Even when I go to the Cons I always fined myself buying a toy. I collect Hot Toys and Transformers as well as Comics. So yeah, it gets expensive, even if they are just toys. At times I fined myself conflicted between the two hobbies. But if it came down to one, I'll always take the comics. This is Prime and Thunder Cracker from the Masterpiece line. To see old comments for this Journa

Kitty Pryde

She's always been my favorite female mutant.... Maybe it had to do with the way Claremont wrote her character, being so close to Wolverine. I just remember her being the youngest team member thrown into the action. I just love Kitty!! She'll always be a tough little sweetheart. Anyway, here's my newest Sunday acquisition.. The Crow

James O Barr did such an amazing job with this story.. There were spin-off titles that came from this original story arch by O' Barr, but nun were as close to this. Just a classic independent book. Just need #1 and my run is complete. Just won this beauty! To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. New comments can be added below.

"GLOD"

That green label of death is not as bad as some people may think. That so called glob of doom really depends on what actually is going on with the book that caused the label...For example, if the book is missing pages or incomplete, then yes, that green label would suck. But to me the only difference between a yellow and green is the label. Think about it for a second...If CGC ever went out of business, what would happen with that yellow label? The credentials of that certified yellow would

The Other Dead

I decided to just go ahead and buy the last one out of the three.. I had already purchased one of these foreign double signed issues and figured that if this issue stays cheap, even though the last issue was a 9.6 and this being a 9.4..it's still a sweet looking book! Another Dead Addition

I'm very excited about this acquisition.. I just love the cover on this issue. It's a foreign issue from Argentina. I just love the variation on this cover compared to the American version. This book is signed by the writer and cover artist. I'm just excited about this book. Can't wait till it arrives at my door...Just thought i'd share this with everyone...Happy Thanksgiving everyone! "Sunday Fun-day"

Ohthose ending auctions.. Well my auction just ended, and I'm very pleased with the outcome . I just won a key X-book at a great price $69.00 to be exact. Anytime I win a good X-book it makes my Sunday night..also when the Pats win! To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. New comments can be added below.

Bad Ass Villains

When it comes to the great psycho villains, Bullseye is one of the greats.. I've been searching for a good affordable copy of this issue for some time and found this beauty. It's not of real high grade, but I'm just happy to have this in my collection. Frank Miller made this guy Bullseye so psychotic and cool, he's right up there with the Joker and GreenGoblin. Anyway, here's a shot! To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. New comments can be added below.

My Bucket Book

This was something I had to do... This was a book that once I seen it..I planned on owning it! I couldn't let it slip away. I decided to go ahead and sell some of my other great books, just so i'd have the funds cover it! I'm happy with this purchase. I feel like I made a huge climb from just a couple months ago. This is my biggest purchase..Ever!! To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. New comments can be added below.

1st Alpha Flight

Just picked up this great 1st appearance... A coworker of mine was looking to get rid of this beauty, so I traded. It fits perfect in my collection. Most of my Byrnes-Claremont consist of 9.6 w/p. Very happy with this awesome looking x-issue! To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. New comments can be added below.

Settled For The 9.6

Well Sundays usually mean auctions are coming to an end.. I was chasing 2 copies of uncanny x-men #141 that comics4less had up, a 9.8 and a 9.6. I would give up on the 9.8 because the price went right thru the roof! I prayed that the 9.6 wouldn't do the same. Well it didn't, thank god! I still paid a lot for this book, but I'm very happy to have a nice solid copy of this issue. With the new x-movie hype, this book is going crazy in price. Well, here's the book...Go Pats!!
