  1. Anyone else notice there's quite a few impressive, high grade Adams Bats and 100 pagers (including a 9.8 'Tec 441) coming up in the next CL auction? I made a promise to myself that I should stay happy with what I already have and not pursue any upgrades, but I am really tempted. I wonder if this is a collection that someone is letting go.
  2. Just a little over current guide. There's two really nice 9.4s coming up next month though. These will probably soar as the bidders who missed out on this one will not be forgetting this time around.
  3. I never noticed any real scarcity with #3 either since I started collecting again back in 2011. Back in the day though (late '70s/early '80s), all Smith Conans were tough in that pre-internet era so you really couldn't tell one way or the other. Issue #3 is a great story so I wouldn't be surprised that it's a more popular book than #2. Maybe the notation should change to "first REH story adaptation in comics"? It's too bad Conan and the genre in general has gone down so low in popularity. My guess is that times have changed and the character might be a bit too misogynistic for mainstream tastes. The last [awful] Conan movie didn't make things better either. Dark Horse did a really superb job with the character, but interest is still limited to core fans. Let's hope the move back to Marvel gives the character a boost. In the meantime, it's a great buyer's market even though prices have gone up slightly in the last couple of years. I completed my high grade Smith run (to include the magazines) in less than year.
  4. Yeah, there is nothing that you've sold that can't be replaced (with time of course). Family first.
  5. Barda. I've always loved this scene with Plastic-man.
  6. Big Barda has come a long way. Every bit as major a character as Scott Free now in my opinion.
  7. I'd go after MM4. Much harder to find in high grade.
  8. The 9.8 went for a lot of money last month, but honestly, it didn't look like a 9.8. This 9.4 has better eye appeal in my opinion.
  9. Outside of the trades, I haven't expanded my Bats collection in almost 2 years.
  10. Great books. Two of my favorites from the 100 page run. If DC ever does a non-superhero,True Crime type of book with Harvey Bullock as the lead character, 'Tec 441 would take off.
  11. Yep. Resurrecting an old thread. May be counting my chickens before they hatch as I don't have the book in-hand yet, but this will get shipped to me shortly. Book seemed to have gone under the radar for some folks as I got it fairly cheap off of CL's last auction. Was actually surprised I won it at all. I would imagine there's a few bidders who completely forgot when this one was ending.
  12. I bought that book off the stands back in the day. Kirby had some really wild stuff during his tenure at DC. Although not a key or book to be considered undervalued, I liked his one-shot Manhunter in First Issue Special as well. Although the keys in the 4th World saga are already pricey, but I think all the non-key issues of New Gods, Mr. Miracle, Forever People, and Jimmy O are all undervalued. They should command more than what they do even for non-run collectors.
  13. I don't have a lot of books I'm pining for. Since completing my Adams Bats and Smith Conan runs, I've been fairly happy. If there's any book I can think of, it's probably Vampirella #1 in high grade. I am only interested in books that I can associate with from my younger years. This pretty much leaves out any of the major DC and Marvel keys from the SA and GA, which are pretty much out of my price range anyway.
  14. I have the DVD. Not quite as good as the original comic of course, but it was decent adaptation. Lots of nudity and bloody violence, of course Steven Weber was a fan of the original comic and played a big part in pushing the adaption onto the screen. Yeah, been looking for a high grade copy of Creepy 63 for ages. Great book.
  15. It's been so long since I've bought anything meaningful, this is an odd feeling. At least it's given me time to save up some money. Anyway, only one win (so far). Didn't expect to actually win it, so I guess I have to cough up the bucks now. Really surprised it didn't go for more, but given the less than spectacular state of DC's movie verse, I suppose I shouldn't be surprised.
  16. Modern sports cards are like modern comics. They're printed in quantities far lower than anything in the '90s which were printed in the MILLIONS. This is for both comics, cards, toys, you name it. I am so glad I was not collecting anything back in the '90s.
  17. My only Action Comics from that ERA. That kid in the orange shirt would have been me back then in '73.
  18. Ah, the nude cover. Got two raw copies. Love that book. . . . . . There. I said it.
