  1. Catching up to some early Satana appearances and stories. HoH #2 is especially nice. Worth keeping in mylar.
  2. Finally a reason to bump up this thread.
  3. Seriously speaking, I can't think of any covers that haven't already been covered (Well, maybe the DC Blackhawk covers with the character Chop Chop on it), but you'll definitely never see any more back covers or ads for live pets, Daisy BB guns, or non-PC products.
  4. Can't wait to see the final hammer price on that one.
  5. I felt the same way initially. In fact, Bats 232 was the book I targeted first, then Bats 251, but Bats 227 sort of grew on me really quick.

    Gotham

Amazing. This girl is slowly morphing into Michelle Pfeiffer as she gets older. Wasn't sure at first, but I think they made a good choice casting her.
  7. Anyway, here's my copy. I'm happy with it, but I'd never put it over any of my other Adams Bat books.
  8. I think Elvis will have more staying power. He's still very active according to many eye witness sightings.
  9. No. I have never understood the appeal for this book. It's not even the real Beatles, but rather a parody. On top of that, the cover is really nothing special compared to Adams' other books, and the story is mindbogglingly dumb to boot. Yet, you have to consistently throw out the guide on this one as it sells for crazy prices even in low grades.
  10. OMIGOSH. You've just corrupted a youth by giving him a book with both bondage and headlights on the cover
  11. Yes. Great books. Took me a while to finally find copies that were VF or better. Got a great copy of the the Spider-man, Superman, and Star Trek one too that came with the package deal.
  12. I rediscovered this old pic on my computer tonight. I took it back in 2011 when I first started buying comics again. I've since expanded my collection of course, but at the time, this was all literally the comics I owned. Lots of fond memories feeling like a kid again.
  13. Picked this up a few months ago. Excluding any World's Finest books, this is my ONLY Supes book. I just love this cover.
  14. I can't get over how bad Canary's costume is. I'm glad I completely missed this period in DC.
  15. I never liked the character Stick. Thought this character was just to cliche and to be such a huge factor in the development of young Matt Murdock (that's never been heard of up until then), seemed way too convenient. I thought he didn't need to introduce the whole ninja thing either. He was doing such a great job leveraging grounded villains like Kingpin, Bullseye, and even the Punisher. I wish he simply stuck to that. Never really liked Elektra either. Miller introduced her with the intention to kill her off later and it showed in my opinion. Admittedly, later iterations of her was pretty good though. Other than that, I thought DD was cutting edge for the time. I was one of the few that was still buying and reading DD when DD wasn't cool. It was awesome to see one of my favorite characters finally become relevant. This was also the first time I've seen J Jonah Jameson portrayed with some respect and not just as comic relief.
  16. Well, maybe not completely black, but definitely dark and tough to find in high grade. Besides, not enough Conan representation in this thread. Don't have a better pic at the moment, but then there's my copy of Blazing Combat #1. Not high grade (6.0-7.0ish), but for $10, I can't complain.
  17. Have no idea. He had multiple batches of runs from issue #1-10 for $7. I bought one run as a reader. He had more Kull #1s in a long box that hadn't been priced yet. Am going back next week to see if he still has them and am willing to let them go for $10 each again. Really weird collection that they acquired. No superhero stuff, but multiple (and I mean multiple) copies of the same issue in very high grade.
  18. I have 3 low cost PGX books I bought as set fillers. I'd say two were accurately graded, one was woefully overgraded. Having gone this route collecting sports cards with all the fly-by-night grading companies in that particular hobby, I only stick with the big name, reputable graders now.
  19. I actually hated that period in Marvel. It dominated the space and for me, ruined a lot of covers that might have been (arguably) iconic.
