Although I would tend to agree with you here, I guess it should be pointed put that the grading and slabbing of comic books is still really more of a luxury or a discretionary expenditure, as opposed to an actual necessity.  hm

Compared that to a case lot of 12 cans of Campbell soup which used to cost only $5.99 a case when on sale a couple of short years ago, to what they now advertised for $16.99 for the exact same case of 12 tins of Campbell soup.  :censored:

Now, that's definitely an egregious and price gouging increase, although I guess Campbell soup is also not a technical or even tasty necessity either.

waiter there’s a hair in my soup

CGC there’s a hair in my slab

betting the later phrase is more common

Anyone know when defalco is signing submissions. We are about 2 weeks out from the 6 week mark from the submission deadline.

@CGC Mike do you know when the official signing was to take place?

Great to see all the recent signings completed, Miller, Janson, Layton, and Claremont. Any update on when DeFalco happens?

So the comics went from no status to scheduled for grading overnight. It seems unlikely they’ve been signed without changing status.

Does it mean they’ve been signed or is it just a catch-all generic status?

the later, just a catch-all generic status when received

  4. just as an aside since the OP used the comparison

I can find thousands of ridiculous listings by MCS on ebay

so much so that I wish there was a filter to not to be able to see their listings

now I do understand that a number of their listings are on consignment and they may not have full say on the listing price (they certainly should be able to provide solid guidance).
on a very positive note I have found MCS to be very conservative with their grades

if you enjoy your books retaining value, you probably have MCS’s ebay listings to thanks for keeping prices high

  5. he will sign the book but it is highly unlikely CGC would ask him if he illustrated the cover

this would likely be the answer CGC would give you about requesting that they add the credit notation to the label, no guarantees but worth at least trying  .....

If you are are submitting a book for grading and would like the graders to notate particular key comments or first appearances, etc. you can list that on your submission.  You can also notate it by adding a sticky note to the book sleeve itself.  The graders will then make a determination once they review the book.  All comments are at the graders' discretion.

I am cross posting my comment from the MegaCon thread.

    I

I was talking to another dealer about that and he couldn't understand why someone would come to the show only to have "wall books" that are overpriced so they can show off they have some really expensive books they aren't willing to sell.

wouldn’t this describe every con ever

I don't understand why BLACK is the go to marker.   It looks terrible on most covers.  The SIGNATURE TEAM at cgc should be a little more aware of their surroundings - when they present the book to the person signing, cgc should have a recommended marker in-hand.   I know these people sign thousands of books in hours -- but the consumer is paying good money and often the result is sub-par because of the color of ink - a tiny bit of extra effort

Just my opinion, your mileage may vary

This is a case where I would hardly put the blame on CGC so long as they are providing a variety of markers.  90% of the time the talent signing are artists, if anyone should be aware of what does and doesn’t work/look good it is them

Is it normal for the inner well to move slightly?

It doesn't seem to be loose enough to cause damage to the book. But... just curious if it's normal for their to be a slight shift.

    normal as of fairly recently

I believe this is one of their stealth fixes for preventing Newton Rings, less tight seal allowing the book to shift slightly

I spoke with a grader, and there are no internal notes for this book.  He requested additional pics, and we might be able to point something out to you.  If you could send me some more pics, that would be great.

thanks as always for going the extra mile … others at CGC can learn a thing or two from your efforts

the fact the graders deemed my submission an 8.0, recorded no notes, and it came back to me with a cover misalignment tells me enough I need to know that CGC/CCS has little respect for their customers, the collectibles they submit,  and their company’s reputation
