  1. Or: "Thoughts and prayers."
  2. Absolutely nuts. THIS is why I don't have my books pressed. This right here.
  3. I'm not disagreeing that there is inflation, but those two examples have other mitigating factors regarding price hikes. The silicon chips used in new cars have become super-scarce, driving up the price and decreasing the production of new cars. As a result, people are flocking the the used car market, and supply/demand takes hold. Similar situation with home building and renovation. Some home building/repair supply chains have frozen or otherwise dried up, driving up the cost of supplies due to scarcity. As a result, new home construction is currently way down despite a huge demand for housing at the moment. These are the same supply problems that are making it hard to find certain comic supplies (see other thread in the forums).
  4. Speaking of Tynion, Memetic doesn't get mentioned enough. I thought it was outstanding.
  5. Yes, SIKTC is fantastic! Both by Tynion, too.
  6. I tried the first few issues, but it was waaaaaay too depressing for me.
  7. This exact thing happened to me very recently. Two copies of the same book in the same order - one came back 9.8, the other 9.6. The 9.6 looks better than the 9.8. I truly wonder if the labels were accidentally switched.
  8. I got two ASM Vol. 2 #36 back from CGC, one got 9.8, one 9.6. When I look at them very carefully in the slab, the 9.6 actually looks better than the 9.8. Makes me wonder if they got them swapped, which I know has happened with books that AREN'T the same!
  9. Fungirl: Tales of a Grown-up Nothing was hilariously bizarre - or bizarrely hilarious, take your pick. I loved it. The Avengers/Hulk was awful (both stories). The Batman 1st story was "meh," the second story ("I am Batman") wasn't well-written at all, in my opinion. My favorite stuff to get and read are the indie and kid stuff I wouldn't normally get. Really looking forward to reading Red Room. Both of DC's kid samplers - Beast Boy/Raven, and the Robin kid book - were highly entertaining and adorable. Calexit was fascinating, and I definitely want to read more. "Kyle's Little Sister" was really, really good. I love FCBD! I just hope parents were monitoring what their kids picked out! There was some REALLY adult stuff on the shelves!
  10. This is nearly identical to the experiences I've had with all three carriers. 1) I had a shipment via FedEx get sent to the same street name/number in a different town. When I reported it as unreceived, I was told it was delivered (which it was, just not to MY house), but the seller was nice and mailed it again. It again got sent to that other town. I think we could see on the tracking where it ultimately ended up, so the seller saw it wasn't my fault, and sent a THIRD package. This one got to me. 2) UPS also doesn't leave packages at the front door. Instead of leaving them WHERE OUR HOUSE NUMBER AND MAILBOX IS, they leave packages at our side entrance. I should mention that our "front" door is also on the side of the house, i.e. not facing the street, so UPS isn't doing this for security purposes (preventing theft, whatever). 3) USPS: rare issues. Only real issues is that sometimes I get a notification that an item is about to be delivered/was delivered today, but it actually shows up the next day. VERY rarely it shows up two days later. I've learned to be patient if I get a delivery notification from USPS and there isn't a package.
  11. Yes. When selecting service on the submission form, select "reholder." Same process.
  12. I'm with @Funnybooks on this one. VF/8.0 max, especially with the other small creases seen on the back cover in addition to the large bend.
  13. That reminds me, I may have this exact book (manufacturing error and all).
  14. I have no idea what's going on. Three standard slow-track orders: one received in May is in G/E/I, while one received in June was shipped in July, and one received TWO WEEKS AGO is currently being finalized.
  15. RECEIVED: 8/4/21 2 1,650 STANDARD Quality Control/Finalized RECEIVED: 6/28/21 STANDARD Shipped 7/19/21 RECEIVED: 5/13/21 2 1,600 STANDARD Grading/Encapsulation/Imaging
  16. Close. . I have a submission entered into the system on 4/1/21 that was "Scheduled for Grading" for three months, and has been stuck in G/E/I for the past month. Slow-Track Economy, so this was expected.
  17. My sub TATs have been all over the place. Standard Slow-Track submission received 5/13/21 has been stuck in G/E/I for a month. meanwhile... Standard Slow-Track submission received 6/8/21 showed up completed at my doorstep on 7/24/21. That's a 33-day TAT (!!). Standard Slow-Track submission received 8/4/21 just moved to G/E/I today. I have no idea what to make of this besides just watching it all unfold.
  18. I think his point is that we don't need a huge summer company-wide crossover revolving around Tim's orientation. Just as it was with Northstar, maybe it just means seeing who he's dating once in a while. Tim is more than his sexuality. We can still have the same Tim stories. They will just have this added nuance in the background or subplot.
  19. JMS has said he hated writing this and only did so under editorial edict. I got the impression Quesada pretty much wrote the whole thing, and JMS just provided dialog. He then quit.
  20. Tim coming out as bisexual (maybe? He seems to be "exploring himself" and may be straight after all) is FAR easier for me to swallow than Bobby Drake suddenly being gay. I'm a gay man, and that whole thing with Iceman still rings SUPER false to me and I hate it. But there are others that may not mind, and even enjoy that development. Good for them.
