  1. I subscribed to CBG during that time period… so I probably saw your ad. I could never afford to buy from those ads though unfortunately. No checking account and I was still a minor…
  2. This seems like an idea where personal execution will exceed the cost of buying the mass manufactured item. You want the bag to be flat since wrinkling may transfer to your comic. Huge seams will also look bad and may make it not fit into standard boxes. There's also no guarantee you can cut each to be exactly the same size as the next. (The idea is to have it cut and seal at the same time probably with two offset films lying flat on top of each other if you want a flap.) If you're trying to make something like an Archive 4 Mylar that is open at the top; that may be easier, but a consistent, clean edge seam would seem to necessitate some calibrated precise equipment.
  3. Yep. I’ve noticed some very striking colors on X-Factor 1 and very Deep Reds on ASM 362 since I have a fair number of copies to compare. If you saw them side by side, you’d want the deeper colored ones probably.
  4. Madame Web? I guess ASM #210 will be hot for the next 10 minutes. (Apparently I've been away because this has been hot for a while and I had no idea...)
  5. I shipped Priority to Canada recently... Acceptance Time 03/10/2022 4:42 PM Delivery Status Delivered 2022-03-11 13:51:00.0
  6. You have to call them. They are backed up right now and may not even be accepting orders for various inventory items I think. (They'll let you know probably when depending on what you order of course.) BCW has been having supply issues as well but they seem to be caught up I think. (I've received about 6-8000 bags and boards recently and 2000 magazine boards ordered this week with no delays.) They're always a good temporary measure until you get your Mylites2/Fullback combos in.
  7. My thinking is if we can wait a year for grading, we can wait a while for supplies... Buying direct from eGerber is still the way to go even if you don't need that much. If you ever set up at a local show, people always tend to buy them if you have them at a decent price. (For your excess packs.) Buying direct lowers your cost to less than $10 for a pack of 50 usually. (19.2 cents per Standard Mylites2 before shipping.)
  8. I don't think PayPal offers Regional Rate A or B options though... At least it didn't when I shipped using that option recently. I had to go to the USPS site directly. Of course, that could be attributed to what we call "User Error".
  9. On another note, a note on their website said they were backordered on Magazine Boards, but BCW sent out my order with no delays apparently.
  10. Action Comics #1 has been reprinted numerous times over the years. That one is the 1975 Sleeping Bag Reprint. It was a promotional giveaway. Action Comics #1 Reprints - GoCollect
  11. I think they mentioned that people have done this before. Since CGC gives you a heads up generally before they actually physically ship your books out, you would have time to fill out the Consignment Form so MCS is expecting the shipment. (Note that I'm not sure what would happen to any CGC screen rejects you would also have in that shipment though. I don't think those generally are listed in the shipment.)
  12. I think you're a special case... (You might be a VIP based on your descriptions.) Small potatoes people like me for instance... I think the average so far is about two weeks from reception.
  13. It's yours. I still don't know how this Multi-quote works exactly...

  19. Hi Everyone, RULES: First "takeit" in the thread wins and trumps any PM negotiations until the post has been updated as SOLD in the thread. I reserve the right to overrule takes in the event that a PM deal is concluded, and I hadn't yet had a chance to mark an item sold. Please do not edit takeits. Payment: Payment by Paypal, Venmo, Check/MO, or Cash in person. Invoices will go out after the thread ends. Payment expected within 72 hours unless we communicate and agree ahead of time. Shipping: $12 for the 1st slab within the USA. +$2 for each additional slab. Domestic shipping is via Priority Mail usually. International shipping will be at cost and must be determined prior to sale. Returns: All sales on CGC graded books are final. Please inspect the images for damage to the case before buying. Buyer is responsible for shipping cost back unless item was damaged in transit.
  20. Requiring typed internal notes for standard grading would probably slow the grading process down. I'm not privy to the inner workings, but I would have an internal coding system or grading form on the screen that would be easily checked via touch screen or mouse click. (spine stresses - heavy, moderate, light, etc. fading - heavy, moderate, light). For most 9.8s, coding would be minimal. You wouldn't have to list every defect... Just the major ones that contribute to the overall grade. Standardizing grading notes could also contribute to future database analysis. They should have a checklist anyway... page count, MVS or not for certain books, etc.
  21. Does anyone have any experiences with those delivery services that cut the international fees (while using the same delivery major delivery service)? I see people using services like package hopper for Australia now, and I’ve used it for some business deliveries (that weren’t consequential), but I wonder if it is safe enough to use for collectibles. The cost is frequently about half or even less than the comparable international fee from a major delivery service.
  22. I use and like MCS too. I've started seeing a pattern where I think the same person is making two offers on the same book I have in a psychological ploy to get me to settle for a lesser offer price. I wonder if this is a negotiation tactic or not...
  23. Congrats on the #4 getting a 9.8. I actually have multiple copies of Fugitoid and other TMNT issues still in the queue being slabbed as well.
