Had an unusually successful day of comic hunting yesterday - unusual because (1) it was Sunday and (2) I found comics at 2 garage sales!

First was on a reverse ask - the seller asked if I was interested in buying comics based on the Comic Con shirt I was wearing - I said yes, and her husband soon emerged with a tote full of about 100 late 1970s comics and 15 TPBs - I asked how much for all of it - he said $20 - I said sold.  He didn't want to part with his Spider-man issues, however (and he showed me a few nice Marvel Treasury editions that he didn't want to sell either) - the highlights -

At the next one, I asked if he had comics, he went back into the house and emerged with the pile below.  After a little haggling, we settled on $60 for all of it.

The highlights (glasses are attached inside Captain EO, and the DKR #1 is a first print - #2 is a third print) -

Overall, very happy I went out on a Sunday (especially since I couldn't go out on Saturday)

A local used bookstore had recently advertised they had comics on their Facebook page. I couldn't make it of course. I was off yesterday so I figured can't hurt to look for any scraps other local flippers may have missed.

I don't know if the store got more books or if the other flippers just didn't know where to look (store bit of a mess) but I walked away with the books below, at about half off after using some of my store credit.

...Just proves books are out there (albeit rarer and rarer), it pays to hunt and good luck can happen.

A good day at the flea market today. 4 very early 1950’s cereal boxes with premium offers. A nice Rin Tin Tin box but the best is the Space Patrol. Pick out a rare comic then think how rare these are. How many people kept the box when it was empty? Being also a premium collector, these are the perfect complement to them. And just couldn’t leave the Hoppy boot box for $10.

Recent estate sale find.

Saturday’s events: Struck out at 1st yard sale which was a waste- an antique dealer’s pile of leftover mixed fodder including a Dazzler 1. After that at a nearby show I found a booth poorly being given attention. I was pleasantly delighted to find these silver age all in the same $1 shortbox

While at the show I received the following text from the same friend in last week’s post, “epic modern score”. That could only mean one thing so I head over to that sale. Turns out it was another OO lifetime collector who decided to let his books go for a $1. Among his finds were Cap 2005 1-25 (6 var), Wolverine Origins 1-10 (10 var), Ultimate FF 21-23, JSA Classified 1-2 Hughes, Emma Frost 1-18, Wolverine 55 EC. These are the leftovers my dealer friend left behind

I picked up these two there also.  I feel like a got an amazing deal on the "Amazing Adventures", but I couldn't talk him down in price much on these two.  I got them for less than they're worth, but.... they weren't a "deal".
