Believe it or not, there was a time when if you did enough looking and were real lucky, you could turn up books like this at those kind of sales. I have a lot of great books I found that way.

Those days are sadly, long gone. Most of the stuff from that era is long gone. Sucked up and in the hands of collectors.

Not saying one could not get lucky but highly unlikely.

I went to a yard sale a couple of years ago that did have a handful of graded books, but they were Bronze.

You don’t even see those anymore. There was a time not so long ago, when other than a few good Marvel titles in good shape or keys were the only ones I bought. Now all I see are Moderns which I generally don’t bother with. I’m tired of storing stuff with so little value.

You'd be hard pressed to find that kind of book even in a comic book store that deals in vintage comics, let alone a garage sale or flea market.

I did some picking during dealer setup time this weekend after I setup my booth at a toy show. A dealer had several long boxes, all labeled 3 for $5. One of the boxes was backwards and labeled on the wrong side. I see this quite a bit, and it makes me believe that nobody has searched the box yet. I turned the box around and pulled these for $15 total from that box.

Full disclosure cross post with my journal entry, but...

A local used bookstore had recently advertised they had comics on their Facebook page. I couldn't make it of course. I was off yesterday so I figured can't hurt to look for any scraps other local flippers may have missed.

I don't know if the store got more books or if the other flippers just didn't know where to look (store bit of a mess) but I walked away with the books below, at about half off after using some of my store credit.

...Just proves books are out there (albeit rarer and rarer), it pays to hunt and good luck can happen.
