It's been almost a year since I posted new acquisitions in this thread....time flys!!  I have made many a purchase in the last year but here are a few new oldies from an auction I attended yesterday....

We missed your incredible finds, and thought you had joined the rest of us in the drying-up 'finds-in-the-wild'. But it looks like small auctions can still reveal some troves.

Assuming that Superman and His Fortress of Solitude comic is the giant/oversized comic I'm thinking of, it was the first comic I was allowed to buy as a kid. lol.  Brings back memories.  Nobody would trade any comic with me for it because it was stupidly oversized.  I think I did eventually trade it or give it away, though.

A man was moving out of the country and decided to sell his entire collection at his moving sale. Here’s highlights from what I picked up cheaply including his entire Thor 126-500 series run with some duplicates! The only issue missing is #411 consequently. His price was $500 and I didn't hesitate. His collection mainly consisted of many signed comics, ashcans, promo previews, Wizard 1/2s and the like. I also picked up original 1960s TV scripts from Star Trek, MI, Lucy. etc and various oddball movie collectibles.

Thanks for your confirmation post in this week in collection! Knowing to post here now, which makes more sense...

I don't want to assume, so I'll inquire, was this a more personal setting for you? I know you hit up estate sales and etc as this thread suggests and I'm wondering if you had time to peruse? I agree $500 seems like a good deal when the seller is satisfied. I'm also wondering if you had time to see the sigs before hand or placement and by whom? When he bought them one at a time, I can only imagine how long this took him over time? Or if he got sigs done in person? Still I love this story and as of late or with the "season starting up again this year and so soon?" I see it as good for you, just the feedback of having been doing diligence and then the perseverance to aquire having all parties satisfied!

Thor would thusly be impressed 😁

If this isn't your first time, well then you still have taught me to one day be able to for myself! Lord willing :)

Im sure LCS do this everyday but for me I feel it wouldn't be as often, as I'm not as prominent to acquire 😂 regardless well done. :)

Spoiler

Edit to say "over time", well that indeed was a nice little hunk for parting with, I'm glad it worked out well, cause I'm sure it was work. I can only imagine the diligence by all parties 😂 I mean LCS might see this everyday, but to me and perhaps you @littledoom it still has some "mystery to it?" Haha

This was a regular yard/garage sale that happened last Saturday. The first non-rainy sunny Saturdays in weeks/months. Not my first rodeo. I did have some time. I go rather quickly b/c u never know when the competition arrives. It was supposed to start at 8am and I didn't see anyone setting up outside until 7:45. Some of the autos I didn't even notice. A dealer friend picked up two Groo Sergio Aragones signed books that were remarked at the bottom. He sold those for a pretty penny. I did happen to miss a Deadpool 1 Limited also. I think he got them signed all in person years/decades ago. I didn't pry. Acquiring this welcomed junk also has its work lol.

Indeed! Admired effort all around then. Congrats, definitely fun and the name of the game! ^^

From an ask at a garage sale this morning - he said he had some Star Wars comics if I was interested - I said sure - he brings out these three boxes

I open the first box and see this flyer

Then I took a look inside - I ask him if $150 was his price for all, and quickly paid him

When I got home, I saw that it was a complete, high grade run from 38-107, with all 3 annuals, ROTJ 1-4, plus 2 paperbacks.  Also included #1 (mid-grade), 2, a reprint of 4, and 5, and randomly 17.  Always pays to ask!

Been a while since anything came my way at an Estate Sale or the like.  This from a Flea Market down the valley this morning.  Was questioning the seller about the staples (see pics) and whether they looked modern. He was telling me this was (along with other books he had at the Market and some he hadn't yet "gone through") a local OO collection and it was pretty unlikely he did any restoration.  The guy was apparently a hoarder and had boxes of books in various places in the house. There were a few Jumbo and Jungles and a Fight, but they were pretty chewed up, especially the spines.  This was the best of the lot. Book is complete and really tight - no interior problems, good colors throughout, some soiling.  "X written in pen on cover" and the kid's name is written on top of the splash page. :)

Cool! Very hard to find GA out in the wild anymore. Pretty sure I would have come home with the other FH lower grade ones as well if the price was right.

Wonder what else was in that OO find?
