My wife saw these on our neighborhood FB site. They were giving them away free! Very cool “3D” effect printed on plexiglass with recessed backgrounds. Never seen these before. Had to grab them.

Those are cool! I've never seen comic related material, but I have seen video game scenes or stills. Games mostly from the Nintendo entertainment system.

I've seen them priced at $15-20, so for free is cool!

All low to midgrade - but at $1.50 each, not complaining.

Lots to do to buy them, but his Superman collection goes all the way back to nearly the very start.

Keep working that collection!

This was posted for sale locally....surprisingly no one else bothered to even make them an offer!  After a few weeks I finally picked it up, and I offered to give them 30 minutes of my time to see what else they had.  The collection had some decent stuff in there, big batch of ASM (including 300, 316), SC8, Star Wars (issue 1), but I wasn't interested in buying the lot so I provided guidance on how they can maximize their sale.  The son had all of the comics (maybe 500 or so) gifted down from his dad.....

I have no idea what that book is but good for you to advise the guy as to what he had. Many people would just swoop in and rip the kid off. I’m sure his dad would be happy and proud of you.

It's a very rare book - Elford by Blair was an indy comic line put out in the 80s.  It has a strong cult following and this type of comic doesn't come up for sale often, maybe once a year on ebay

I'm looking to sell-off a chunk of comics right now, perhaps in a year from now I might make an offer on something like that.  I told them to keep me posted on what offers they get and I'd let them know if they were fair.  And anything that might lead to real estate business down the road is a possible client....

They are pretty cool. They are about an inch thick. The major character and the logos ect are reverse printed on clear plexiglass. They are large 15” x 20”. Marked Marvel on the back. They really pop out at you. Never seen one before but probably not something I would usually look for. More junk I don’t really need but just couldn’t leave them for free!

Thanks.  If you do a search on Elford black and White, Blair, etc.  You'll find some threads about these books....sometimes I do google searchs and add CGC boards to the end of the search to find great threads with amazing info!  To give you an idea, I was significantly more excited to see this book than some obvious keys (even the 300 which is worth more), so that should tell you something!   And I agree 1000%, I've learned a lot about comics from finds I've discovered purchasing collections....

Yeah. His name is Tim Conrad. He never became super well known but there’s a decent amount of his stuff out there.

Tim Conrad designed the logo for the original Chicago Comicon.  I never met Tim but I heard he was a good guy.  Great artist!

Great day at the flea market today. A Matt Baker romance book and a cool, large 1950’s motorcycle for my collection. One of my dealer friends told me to look in a box in his van. A ton of 1st print undergrounds and some cool old children’s character books. I told him the best I could what they were worth and made him a good offer on a pile I wanted. I was pleasently clueless on the 1st print Bijou #1. I think he might have had a 1st print Zap #1. I told him to pull it out and maybe auction it. He was very happy and so was I. Pays to be honest with dealers. I even got a nice spinner rack from another guy. Well worth getting up for.

Nice haul, Bob.  Is that the Death of Fritz the Cat hiding in that bottom row?  The Bijou 1 first is VERY difficult.  Jay Lynch told me that the only printer they could get to print the book (a porn printer) wouldn't trim it so he and Skip Williamson did it by hand with an old-fashioned paper cutter.

Hi Gary. Yes poor old Fritz meets his maker in that one. Yeah, the Bijou 1 is a first print. I didn’t know until I got it home and did some homework. Thanks for the info. I knew it was scarce and could find almost no sales on it. Nice to know why…

They have those at Hobby Lobby, or at least the Hobby Lobby by me, if anyone here wants to check them out. They do look really cool in person!
