Went to an estate sale. I invited my neighbor who happened to be passing by on his way home. I was first per usual but that only gave me seconds ahead of anyone else walking into the comic room. It became a feeding frenzy which I’m not a fan of. Luck of the draw picking which boxes to go through I guess. There were certain $100+ keys I had my mind set on but didn’t find them b4 the competition did. Comics were $2 each or priced as marked. My neighbor ended up finding Killing Joke 1st print and TWO Batman 423s (not sure which prints). Some other guy got a ASM 252 cheaply as well as another happy customer getting two Secret Wars 8 for $5 bucks a pop! Nice stuff in really clean condition from the OO. Some book shop reseller got an insane Carl Barks autographed book for $18! I did alright with some guy named Bob Kane :cloud9:

I bought the Lt Blueberry / Fort Navajo / Iron Horse etc series IN ENGLISH (as it's usually in French) - #1 - #7 (which is the French #1 - #20 issues) from 1966 - 1982 (they were released usually 18 months after the French Issues had finished their story arcs) for the grand sum of $7 at an auction. they were in an old suitcase.

Made out like a bandit.

The original Lt Blueberry books in English from the 1960's & 1970's are really scarce and go for a heap of $$$$

Yours is the 1989 series - yeah?

Crazy, how many estate sales are in your area, and middle of the week no less?   How many comics in total were there, multiple copies of books too - what was the backstory on the owner?  Nice grab...

This was the farthest I’ve driven for comics. Totally not in my area at all. As for the middle of the week I think that has to do with Halloween weekend. There was maybe 10 plus plastic containers full of comics. Hard to guesstimate. Definitely close to thousands. The female owner was definitely a reader and collector. Had amazing cultured stuff. Deep rooted Popeye, Little Nemo, Eisner type of collector. Although there was some dups and collectible comics like Sups 75 and Spawn 9 she definitely seemed beyond that and into the artist’s artist stuff. She spent a lot because she had thousands of quality hardcovers many of which were complete sets

I just bought this from my local thrift mall. What do you guys think the age is? My heart nearly dropped when I saw it. I pick it up tomorrow. It doesn't spin, it's just a standing rack.

That’s a much older nice rustier looking spinner rack than the one I picked up recently. It’s nice the Fawcett branding is still intact. I’d say it’s 50-60s mid century. I mean that’s back when Fawcett was popular enough to get their name on a display right. Could be earlier. The spinner rack I bought recently took up unnecessary space so I sold it today in person for $150. Hope this helps!

I wouldn’t have paid that but I think that’s a good price compared to what I’ve recently seen them at estate sales for. A similar spinner rack was priced at around $550-650.

The Fawcett sign refers to their line of paperbacks, hence the smaller bin (note that it has a postcard souvenir folder in it, which are roughly 4 x 6 inches). That style rack dates to the late 60’s to early 70’s. It’s a really cool find!

My brother found one they were getting rid of at a 7-11 and carried it walking home from school. We had nowhere to put it, so it sat outside too long and rusted up. What a shame. I wish I had it now.

Rarely do I ever found golden age comics at a flea market, so despite the very rough condition I was pretty happy to grab this bunch from one seller.  It was a good day with all of the other comics shown included among my buys of the day.

Nice score! Yeah, very rarely do you see many GA books out in the wild anymore. I’d have bought them all gladly. The other stuff, probably wouldn’t have bent over to pick up for the most part. Glad you had a fun day!

Picked these up at a local auction. A few of these are comics related/adjacent. Also one of these things are not like the others, one of these things just doesn't belong.

I think that most if not all of these are repros. The Tarzan absolutely is.

I'd pay $250 for a decent vintage rack, all day long. They're drying up, at least around here.
