Why so many different eBay accounts? Is there a benefit I'm missing?

Well, each account (in theory) caters to a different target collecting group. I have another account that sells nothing but non-Marvel/DC GA and SA books (Dell / Charlton / Gold Key / Disney / Funny animal, etc.) that surprisingly does really well.

just back from the same store today, not as good as yesterday, but still decent, the top row was all from the dollar boxes, (anyone know anything about that AF15 reprint, I've never seen it before), the DCCP 26 was $3.50, and really excited about the Hellblazer #1 it's NM for $15. the store has like 50 or so dollar boxes which I still haven't gone through all of it yet, and some of their regular stock is old pricing I assume. The new owner actually knows alot about comic values from when I've talked to him, from what I'm told he bought the store from the previous owners, so maybe he hasn't had time to go through and reprice everything yet. place is clean but just a tad bit unorganized as I couldn't find the Hellblazer yesterday in the regular "H" section, it was underneath on the floor in a different "H" box.

Give me some minty fresh dollar bin LOVE!!!! :cloud9:

P1010009.jpg

How is it even POSSIBLE that somebody has multiple copies of this total no-name book nearly 30 years on, still minty fresh...?

That just defies all odds.

that is actually how i run into a lot of this sort of stuff when i actually do run into it, like when i secured 20+ copies of the second app of yusaji...they had been sitting in the shop basement forever, he finally got around to pulling that long box upstairs to stick in the dollar area and..tah dah...but yes, that is an obscure one, more common is the box of 90s stuff coming up and i can snag 10 copies of Spiderman 2099 for fun

Because this was a mini wouldn't it have been better to grab 7 copies of each issue?

sure, but shops also often order heavier on the #1 and get stuck with more of those if the series is a bust, so those might be more likely to sit in overstock. getting the whole mini would likely bring in a premium price if, indeed, the book gets hot. people seem to love getting the whole series.

Why are you guys blowing you load on this book, what am I missing here?

He spent seven dollars for seven first issues of a series that is getting rebooted this summer and has an tv/online miniseries coming out. Seems like a good choice to me.

Not to deny the glory of Hellblazer #1 but Mycomicshop.com typically yields a significant premium over other sellers on ebay. Hopefully those prices (in those grades) will inch upwards for all sellers.

Meck

Plus you can USUALLY find the same comic available directly from mycomicshop.com WITHOUT the Ebay vig. Just gotta dig a bit. That's especially true for slabs....but raws are on consignment and in stock as well.

Who would ever buy from MCS? Just. Plain. Nuts. :sumo:

(Oh, and btw, the seller pays the vig on eBay, not the buyer). :makepoint:

By VIG, I mean that there's typically an inflated price listed on Ebay by MCS to compensate for the fees.

As an example: Here's a listing for Heavy Metal #1 on Ebay for $960 from MCS...

http://www.ebay.com/itm/310931478616?afsrc=1

Here's the listing for the same slab on MCS directly for $850 without the Ebay middleman:

http://www.mycomicshop.com/search?ItemID=24613430

There's a $110 bump in price just for buying it on Ebay....

Moral of the story: don't buy MCS stuff off Ebay without FIRST seeing if it's available directly....

And FTR: MCS has some solid stock on comics....I trust their grading as well. Just don't expect everything rolling out that's stated to be NM to be a 9.8 CGC NM.

More Hellblazer #1 madness:

Hellblazer #1 FN 6.0 for $54 doh!

Hellblazer #1 VG+ 4.5 for $43 doh! doh!

This is the one that has me scratching my head:

Hellblazer 1 FN+ -- $50

Fine Plus condition; no name recognition (at least to me) like MCS or Sparkle.

He's a Boardie, and a great grader and seller. :sumo: Much better than MCS or Sparkle. That's my whole point.

I buy cheap bronze mid-grade readers from MCS all the time. (shrug)

Although, their prices on the stuff I'm looking for seems to be creeping upwards. :(

People buy "cheap bronze mid-grade readers"??? :baiting:
