Scam or not. This beautiful AF15 5.0 sold on EBay yesterday best offer of 42k

Odd when you look up certification number grader notes for a 5.5 displayed along with pictures. Either this is a scam or CGC screwed up and this is a steal of year

Sad to miss out on this 3.5 wp copy on ComicConnect that ended last night at $40,250...talk about a pretty example of a lower grade!

Very, very nice. What did the back cover look like? It looks like the bottom stain goes through the whole book, but very nice.

Yup, that was indeed a beautiful 3.5 copy with the grey colored background which I prefer better than the more common yellowish background. Looks much cleaner and the reds on Spider-Man are deeper red.  If it weren't for staining, the book would probably grade in the 7.0+ scale.  The CGC 5.5 that sold did very well, I must add!

I've honestly never noticed or heard someone mention the color difference that some AF15's have but it's very noticeable now that I've looked at several since reading this.  And yes, I agree the grey is much cleaner and presents much nicer in my opinion.

Clean grays and white streaks mean everything on this book. I looked forever for that ultra clean look. Low humidity Ohio climate preserved my book.

Here are 7.5 sales since April 2022.   Aug 2023 still a bit behind Aug 2022 but perhaps first half of 2023 was the trough.

The recent beautiful CGC 8.0 copy sold on CL for $258k.  When I checked the grader's notes, unfortunately there was some staple rust migration into the centerfold. Doesn't show on the book, but it seems minor. This sale is higher than the avg sale price back in 2020, but lower in 2021.  So, it looks like we're right on track.

I remember seeing that copy and thinking, I could go for it and I'd be getting probably the nicest 8.0 there is, but I decided to sit it out.  No regrets but I'm still looking for a "forever" copy of just a handful of remaining SA keys -- AF #15, ASM #1, and JIM #83.  I feel like I got exactly what I was looking for with these.
