Dr. Love
You have proven yourself to be masterful at market timing, sir. Expected the Cole give or take a thousand, but I must admit to being surprised at the Avon result. Again, congrats the the buyers! Dr. Love
Of the 41 publishers who produced romance, the median number of issues per publisher is 42. Understanding that the range is from 1 issue to 1370. At 83 issues, Star doubled that. Still, not a lot of covers overall. I think Shay's copy went for nice bucks because it's 2nd highest graded, presents great for the grade, and most importantly is one of the top 5 Cole romance covers. imho of course. Which for me are as follows - not in order of preference. Microbia, pmpknface, 1950's war comics and 1 other 2

Popular Post Dr. Love
Amongst other things, the fluidity of Cole's stylistic approach contrasted to other artists whose hand never changed no matter the genre nor the passage of time. I also admired those who could both run a shop and hit the drafting table at the same time. While not Renaissance Men, they were a cut above in my mind. Eisner in particular. And Colletta had a mansion in Jersey while his fellows humped the train into Manhattan to drop off their pages. We talk alot about the art but rarely about the artists. Except Stan and Jack, Jack and Stan. pmpknface, 1950's war comics, comicnoir and 2 others 4
