Wish I'd seen it. For now I'll have to settle for this!

Me too. The only one of the “big four” I am missing. At least it is my least favorite of the group.

Evolution of this awesome thread -

What are the rarest romance comics?

What are the rarest romance comics?

What are the rarest romance comics?

And, ultimately, What?

Or even one or two steps beyond that? (Perhaps I’m going too far?)

- What are the rarest romance comics?

- What are the romance comics?

- What are the comics?

- What are the?

- What are?

- What?

Of the 41 publishers who produced romance, the median number of issues per publisher is 42.  Understanding that the range is from 1 issue to 1370.  At 83 issues, Star doubled that.  Still, not a lot of covers overall.

I think Shay's copy went for nice bucks because it's 2nd highest graded, presents great for the grade, and most importantly is one of the top 5 Cole romance covers.  imho of course.

Which for me are as follows - not in order of preference.

Cover for Popular Teen-Agers (Star Publications, 1950 series) #5

Cover for Popular Teen-Agers (Star Publications, 1950 series) #15

Cover for Popular Teen-Agers (Star Publications, 1950 series) #22

Cover for True-to-Life Romances (Star Publications, 1949 series) #11

Cover for True-to-Life Romances (Star Publications, 1949 series) #23

I like the cover, but it's not Top 5 for me.  For example, I would rather have Pop Teen 10 or 11.

Maybe we need a poll. hm

A poll would be fun!

In compiling my romance database, which in the end consisted of 41 publishers, over 300 titles, and 5,846 issues, for Star I included the titles below.  Michelle Nolan did not agree.

Confessions of Love

Confessions of Romance

Film Stars Romances

Flaming Western Romances

Intimate Secrets of Romance

Popular Teen-Agers

School-Day Romances

Target Western Romances

Top Love Stories

True-to-Life Romances
