Another excellently crafted film from Marvel. Reminiscent of Iron Man in the build-up, which is no bad thing at all, and just as with RDJ, Cumberbatch was a sublime piece of casting. Trade-mark Marvel jokes were in there, but not too many and well done when they appeared. Visually stunning time and time again, had great pacing and editing and an internal consistency that couldn't be faulted. Just as with all Marvel efforts, it fits into a bigger plan that has been many years in the making. I don't know how they do it, but this is another winner.

This is the only review that matters to me, I'm sold. ^^

I've seen it and concur with FT completely. Marvel could be a bit braver with their scripts but it's a pretty fine adaptation of a comic book super-hero tale.

And based on the production rumors it is one of the lowest for Marvel Studios, this could be a huge financial win on top of what it would have achieved already.

DOCTOR STRANGE Production Budget is Conservative Compared to All Other Marvel Studios Movies

Marvel's DOCTOR STRANGE is the latest addition to the studios' cinematic universe and The Hollywood Reporter is now saying its production budget is estimated at $165M.

When you look at all the studios' movie budget together, DOCTOR STRANGE does comes in ninth. Here's the list:

01. CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR - $250M

02. AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON - $250M

03. GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY - $170M $232M restated

04. THE AVENGERS - $220M

05. IRON MAN 2 - $200M

06. IRON MAN 3 - $200M

07. CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER - $170M

08. THOR: THE DARK WORLD - $170M

09. DOCTOR STRANGE - $165M <-----

10. THOR - $150M

11. THE INCREDIBLE HULK - $150M

12. IRON MAN - $140M

13. CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER - $140M

14. ANT-MAN - $130M

Take out RDJ and the financial performance improves accordingly? lol

I expect that the costs of producing superhero/sci-fi/fantasy movies will drop going forward as the CGI platforms become more robust.
