lol...yeah right...possible xerox color wrap around cover......

Sorry ...but staples are original, not removed.... some may not like the look of the centerfold staples...not all centerfold are tight... staples are tight outside spine.

I thought I pulled this thread!!!! Seems some still want to continue this thread for some reason. hm Go figure...

Thats funny, I rarely venture into the PGM forum but when I did I had to click on the post title that was XXXXXX "Weird" I thought. Well, I found no porno but something almost as good, a good old fashioned meltdown. I think your attempts to pull the thread have only drawn attention to it (shrug) And for that, I thank you.

I like the 9.0 grading

OK, since no one wants to thread to end I will add this:

Believe what you will...the staples have not been removed...the bottom staple may look weird but that is the way it is....however, I will admit to reattaching staple prongs ..without removing staple. Why it has a tear next to it and even on the under-page, I can only guess...

Book is slightly off on the back...but not front...so slightly mis-cut....

Book is going out to other third part today...to get it back quick...and leave any doubt of restoration etc....if I like the grade I get will bring to show in Aug...no great desire to sell...as I want one for my collection although I always consider if worth me selling or trading for something I like better or toward a higher grade.

I also have a lower grade Hulk 1 sent for grading..that will go for sale...can't here....

Bahahahahahaha

can't be any worse than me buying cgc blue and them giving it purple on the resub. Both companies don't know how to handle resto apparently.

No not original owner...

Regarding staple..I guess I could have used scotch tape...which is not considered restoration...but felt reattaching a better option if able...and was able.

If that gets a purple label vs. books with tape on spine...and even slight color touch up not getting a purple label...than something is wrong with the system.

I do not even know if one staple pushed through is much of a defect...unlike detached centerfold.....

Hats off the RMA, Andy and Iceman for catching this. Very, very impressive work, gentlemen. I am in awe. I hope the PGX guy applies the same dilligence.

No company is perfect but I know which one I trust to do a better job and fix a mistake

Because you are not your book, none of us are, we are simply lucky custodians of them for a time. Sometimes decades, sometimes we never even see them in hand. H1 is a well-liked book, and we are very happy to discuss it endlessly, regardless of what the current custodian wishes.

This is not meant as a dig against you in any way. It took me awhile to come to view comics this way, but after seeing so many "hey that was my old copy" posts, it just makes sense.

I find it interesting that you didn't disclose your manipulation of the staple until a bunch of people noted that it looked off. hm

And he also said he is not the original owner of the book. The staples still look fishy to me.

Surprised nobody pounced on him when he mentioned a reverse spine roll by putting the crease on the spine. That's probably why the staples are ruined because he was trying to shift the entire spine.

After reading through all the comments and looking at the spine and staples - this scenario seems more likely.

HAha...you guys are funny!

Why not answer the question I put out....

Would you leave staple unattached or try to reattach?

You saw a close up image of the staples...what more is there to say?

Do you know what your books look like inside once sealed?

Me thinks Chip may be right.

"Ruined" for reattaching a staple! OMG!

Only the comic industry makes a big deal of repairing a book. Color touch and trim is another story. But arrival tape seals...reattaching a staple are all for preservation.

Amazing how a number of you talk about pressing be OK. "If I were to have pressed.." and so on. That IS NOT RESTORATION but reattach a staple..that was once attached....OMG...send me to red_rocks! (tsk)

CGC and others are revising their "restoration" stance for good reason!

And for those who continue to harp on staples...they are most certainly original...and were never removed...fishy or not.

No doubt a professional grader will know that...although to me who gives a rats if a staple were changed....for instance a rusted staple. Why would I want it to sit there???? There are many staples that can be found from lessor books that would be just fine replacement. But somehow, someway....people from a photo can claim replaced staple.....fishy etc....

Preserving a comic should be the goal....if it is for repair the term restoration should not be used and the owner should not be impacted with a purple or even a green label for that matter.....it should only be used when it makes a book appear to be better than it is....fixing a staple...sealing a tear (tear still visible) should not count against a book. IMHO

Who agrees? Who does not?
