That's assuming Gordon Gecko CGC even wants to turn the ship around.

I think Blackstone plans to have CGC encapsulate everything in sight before the means of production goes underwater.  Think of all the pristine Funkos that will soon run the gauntlet....

I'd bet the number of graders is actually higher than that.

They show 12 graders (not counting 4 specialists) on their website, but they say they employ "more than 20 professional graders".

But then they also say they "carefully inspect" each collectible, label and holder for accuracy, defects and contaminants too, so who knows?

Is this a recent change? I sent a book in last August as a ME that I got off eBay, the label had incorrect creator credits. I was emailed a form to fill out with an overnight UPS label and the got the book corrected and shipped back to me within 9 calendar days.

I have another ME in “Scheduled for Grading” now and it’s been over a month, but it is a book I submitted myself.

This was as of 9/22/22 when I received an e-mail back from CGC customer service to which I replied:

I spoke to a 'Ryan' in customer service yesterday who bluntly told me that if it was someone else who sent the book in for grading (in this case AlexRossArt.com) my slab with trapped debris was not eligible for your complimentary reholder service.  I would have to send the slab back on my own dime and use the Reholder service.  Which I've gone ahead and done.  And I just got back from the post office and shipped the book back.

This was confirmed by a follow-up e-mail from a CGC Supervisor.  Said reholder hit Submission Tracking on 10/6/22 (post Hurricane Ian) and has remained in SFG ever since.

That the customer of their product ( be it original submitter or the purchaser of said book ) should have to pay anything for CGC to fix a mistake they made would be laughable....if it wasn’t truly just sad.

No, I'm not on the list.  Yes, I've subbed books and yes I went elsewhere due to the problems I see posted constantly.  Here, YT, IG, etc..

I will very hesitantly sub again because I paid $99 for a membership with $150 credit attached to it.  With that I'll be getting 3 books graded and yes, I am obviously playing the odds and hope I don't regret it.  Only reason I did was due to a complete lack of CS at the place I went to.

I'm just saying your list of 5 or 10 names is not going to be cared about, or noticed by anyone.  Nor would a list of 50.  They're too busy churning through submissions and hoping the returns, due to horrible QC, are minimal.

Well a list is better than no list

Pennsylvania

In 1981, Steve Geppi was told about a collection near Lancaster, Pennsylvania by a broker named Birney. Birney took him to an elderly woman's home where stacks of Golden Age comics were piled throughout a room. There were about 1,000 comics in the collection, primarily from the 1941-1944 period, and contained mostly superhero comics from numerous publishers. The bulk of the books resided in personal collections for over a decade before they began appearing on the market. Their grades are among the highest of the pedigree collections and the books are easily identifiable by a cursive "P" penciled on the front covers.

Incredible! The same thing happened to me ... two years ago.

I even returned it for a mechanical error (wrong label) and they sent it back to me with the same label.

I didn't bother to return it again.

How was it the wrong label? It's a Pennsylvania?

Nope. Pennsylvania contains books from the ‘40s only.

Metropolitan Comics has a Pennsylvania Dutch Copy pedigree, but this latter is not recognized by CGC.

Your response is appreciated :)

I saw you quote someone, and I didn't remember the full conversation, thanks for clarifying! I didn't have time to do my own research :shy:

Sometimes I think when you return for ME, all they do is check for a cracked case, and throw it back in the mail and return it. Can you tell if it was the same case on the original return?
