CGC actually took responsibility and credited my account for the loss of value

CGC has repeatedly and emphatically stated they don't place value on books...so how did they determine "loss of value"..?

This SS 3 is the worst I’ve seen so far.  The damage is absurd, but the failure to address it is borderline criminal.   Why would you trust your books to a company that hires muppets to handle them?

worst example I have seen as well.

I would just like to point out that when CCS announced the hiring of this new QC guy (May 25, 2022) Michael Saucerman, who was supposed to swoop in and make everything right, this thread was on page 129. It is now on page 194. I don't know, but to me it seems like things are getting worse. It doesn't seem like this guy is taking these QC issues at CGC very seriously.

CCG Hires New Quality Assurance Manager, Michael Saucerman

Saucerman comes to CCG from Toyota, a company known for its world-class quality management system.

The Certified Collectibles Group® (CCG®) is pleased to announce that Michael Saucerman has been hired as Quality Assurance Manager. Saucerman brings 20 years of experience in quality management and continuous improvement to CCG.

Prior to joining CCG, Saucerman worked as a Quality Engineer and Continuous Improvement Coordinator at Toyota and Adient, companies that are widely regarded for world-class quality management systems. His proven knowledge and expertise will elevate the level of excellence and service that CCG delivers to its customers. Under Saucerman’s supervision, CCG will also be increasing its quality control personnel and resources.

“I am excited to join the team and assist in perfecting processes and quality control systems, ensuring customers have a great experience with CCG,” said Saucerman.

CCG is currently putting into place several new processes focused on improving quality control, including the implementation of more stringent procedures, increasing inspection checkpoints within the certification process and expanding its quality control training programs.

To further reduce quality deviations, CCG is also utilizing lean-management techniques and advanced analytics. With the implementation of lean-management techniques, quality management is as important as efficiency. CCG is striving for predictable, consistent quality control across all submissions.

“We are thrilled that Mike Saucerman has joined our team as Quality Assurance Manager,” commented Steven R. Eichenbaum, CEO of CCG. “His experience will guide us in enhancing our quality control processes, resulting in fewer quality deviations and a better experience for submitters.”

CGC could only use the "We're very busy" excuse for so long. We are well past that point.

Actions speak louder than words. And in this case, results speak louder than anything.

So far, all we've received is lip service from every CGC employee. I can't speak for anyone else, but for me personally, If all you can offer me is "We're working into it", save your breath.

And while you're at it, hire some people with some integrity. Better yet, get a little for yourself.

I find it rather humorous they call these problems "Mechanical Errors". No, they are human errors or neglect. If I can spot hair, plastic pieces, unsealed slabs, books upside down, etc. within one second of taking the slab out of the box, how can after passing through multiple hands can things so obvious be missed and passed through anyway?

Mmmm, I'm not so sure about that.  In the old days, if your slab was mislabeled or damaged, no matter where you got it from, you could send it back as an ME. Now the rule is (per Customer Service), if you sent in the books yourself and something ends up being wrong, you can still get them fixed through an ME.  However, if you purchased the slab from someone else and there's something wrong, you have to send it back and pay to have it reholdered.

Right now there's a CGC on eBay I'd really like to buy but the label is misspelled.  But if I do, I can't get it fixed via an ME.  I'd have to send it back on my own dime and pay to have it reholdered.

Is this a recent change? I sent a book in last August as a ME that I got off eBay, the label had incorrect creator credits. I was emailed a form to fill out with an overnight UPS label and the got the book corrected and shipped back to me within 9 calendar days.

I have another ME in “Scheduled for Grading” now and it’s been over a month, but it is a book I submitted myself.

I think @CGC Mike said that the whole QC team is like 7 people.  How many books get slabbed everyday?

The continuous fail of their QC “department” will be the downfall of CGC.  People will stop submitting because it’s not worth the risk....and MCS will continue to receive raw consignments by the truck load.  Ultimately....comic encapsulation goes the way of the Dodo 🦤 bird

Well, with so many "ME's" showing up, they are pretty much just depending on the customer to be their QC department.

Pretty much.  But this approach stops working when customers stop being customers because they are sick of CGC’s ineptitude.

Who in their right mind would trust CGC with a $10,000 to $100,000 book?

Every book has a value to the customer no matter what the price, but I was thinking this myself. What if this was someone's key issue, and they destroyed it like this?

MCS was busy at Baltimore. Add Steve Borock into the formula and they are one of the go to places to consign books and artwork.

The plain truth is CGC will generate their own submission through private signings  and dealers who make a living selling comics will continue to submit. Very little is going to stop that from happening at this point,  and the small guy who decides to stop submitting will go unnoticed.
