Unless the book is a 4.5 without all the damage they caused....that’s not even close to a reasonable solution.  
You have a 4.5 in your hands right now.  If all you wanted was 4.5 money, you could sell the book

Looks that way to me.  He sent in a 6.5 or 7 and they are paying him for a 4.5.  Looks like CGC wins here because they can just resell the 4.5 and they are out nothing.

Why bother even returning it to CGC?  Makes no sense.  OP could just sell it themselves .

So basically they are taking zero responsibility for destroying your book. 

CGC saying they'll buy it from you at 4.5 value is like if someone totaled your nice above-average condition car, and the insurance company cuts you a check for the value of a totaled car. 

CGC has become as corrupt and criminal as a common thief.

To be fair, CGC did their job on this book.  It was CCS that botched it.  CGC took the book that was handed to them and graded it.  It's not really a QC issue with them.  I would be lighting up Matt's phone on this one.
