These are St. John Giants.  Squarebound and all apparently unindexed o.O

I'm thinking all reprints.

Yes, these are St. John giants. Title is Giant Comics Editions. They ran the gamut genre wise. They were made up of unsold issues so I believe contents can vary. Yes, pretty scarce. I can’t confirm varying contents because these are the only ones I have owned.

The crime issues here mostly have VERY violent Chessler books in them. Both of them are SOTI illustrations. Not sure if Wertham actually saw these or the original Chessler versions.

#4 is the blood draining panel and #5 is the red hot poker panel.

The last photo is a group shot of most of them. I am missing a few humor issues. As you can see, a few crime, a few western, some humor and a bunch of romance. Some iconic Baker covers in the group. Other than the crime ones, the rest is all St. John interior material.

If I ever get the time, I should index the contents…

So cool!  I'm reading American Daredevil on Gleason right now.  The early hero comics from him don't do anything for me, but these crime comics are fantastic.

Seems like a bound volume would make for a pretty incredible reading copy :D

Yeah, the crime stuff is a whole lot more “interesting” than the usual Biro stuff.

Yes, I love bound volumes and have collected them for a long time. Convenient to thumb through and read. Used to be a lot more affordable but recently, they have been “discovered” by smart buyers.

Another rare and killer crime book. Real Clue Crime Stories V5 no. 7 CGC 9.4 from 1950 with off white pages, formerly of the Promise collection. Absolute lone highest graded with only 2 others on census, both 5.5. First appearance of the escape artist who spent more time on planning than cardio.
