Oddball promotional/giveaway for a bank in Marshalltown, IA. Approx. 100 pages, includes a reprint of Donald Duck and the Mummy’s Ring. I believe it dates around 1963-1965 but not sure.

What an awesome giveaway! What else is in those 100 pages?

I researched further and am guessing it’s the contents of Uncle Scrooge and Donald Duck #1 (1965). I’d like to compare it to a copy of it since this is an odd size, and whether it includes the pages that were redrawn by Barks.

If anybody has a copy of US&DD #1 handy and can snap pics of the 1st couple spreads (inside front cover and first 3 pages), I’d appreciate it for additional research...

That is seriously cool. I wonder if CGC would grade it and how they would catalog it.

Which pages were redrawn?

BB-Gun is that your copy? I need interior pics- the 1st and last couple pages ( including inside front and back covers). I think this giveaway was produced a bit differently to accommodate it’s cover. There is a single leaf glued to the last page at the spine, it’s not a wrap, here’s page 1 and a look at the spine...

Looking for some size, how about this HUGE 9"x13" Donald!  :nyah:  Donald Duck #978 (Whitman Publishing, 1935).  This is the first book devoted to Donald Duck, and it is made entirely of thick, linen paper.   This is a recent acquisition, which happened to coincide with last night's CL auction.  That reminded me to post here (before that guy does and steals my thunder!).

Nice. Were you as pleasantly surprised by the existence of this book as I was?  I only learned of it this year, but I was wowed by the overall dimensions and linen (!) pages in-hand (even putting aside the high-quality art/colors throughout).

There are some really great Disney publications from the thirties outside the comic book realm. I've picked up a few but would like to get some more. Some of the Silly Symphony pop up books look really nice.

Oh my goodness.  Pop-up books from that era!  Now that would be a treat!

There was an EBay auction last year. They had a number of pop ups but I didn't win them. I did manage to pick up a small story book about Anartic penquins based on a Silly Symphony. The printing is very nice and high quality. This is a whole other realm of collecting the products of Western publishing.

I picked up an upgrade copy of Uncle Scrooge 17 at the Torpedo Comic Con last weekend from @MrBedrock and got a chance to read it today. Great Barks tale of battling the Blutopians in the South Pole for control of a rare element. At this point Uncle Scrooge was still a quarterly publication so Barks likely had some good time to devote to these tales. The landscape views of the South Pole are really well done. A short Gyro tale wraps up the issue and is pretty funny too. What a great comic for your dime back in 1957! And the cover is fun too with Daisy Duck playing the fortune teller.
