Bosco685
Well, we will have plenty of time to debate what really happened before the next season comes along. WESTWORLD Season 2 Confirmed for 2018 Premiere Date Fans of HBO's latest original series can breathe easy: series star Jeffrey Wright confirmed on social media that Westworld season 2 is happening - but apparently fans will have to wait until 2018 to see it. Wright played dutiful Westworld behavior specialist Bernard, who was revealed to himself be a host - one made by park co-founder Robert Ford (Anthony Hopkins) in homage to his late design partner Arnold, who first endowed the hosts with the potential for consciousness. Jimmy Linguini
Had to think about it. At first I assumed it was a mini series after last nights episode. HOWEVER - when they went to that Chinese warrior area - all the doors had the SW logo and not the normal W logo - implying a South Westworld - will the next season be infused with this second universe of robots? THIS SHOW IS SO COOL

Bosco685
I called it! What an ending! And until she started fighting, I didn't recognize the android with the snake tattooed on her face (Armistice) is Ingrid Bolso Berdal who starred with Dwayne Johnson in 'Hercules' as Atalanta. She was a badazz! So I guess Season 2 is going to include Medieval World, Roman World and potentially Future World and Samurai World due to the characters we saw practicing in the lab. Loads of questions from that final episode. 1) Was that really Dr. Ford or the android that was being built in his secret lab? 2) When the decommissioned androids started attacking - and Clementine shot at William/Man In Black - was he shot or was that one of their dummy rounds? 3) It appears Maeve was following a programmed path the entire time based on what Bernard noticed in her programming. But was this due to Ford or Arnold? Season Two can't come soon enough.

Bosco685
Rewatched the finale tonight. I totally missed the part where DR Ford tells Dolores her personality was merged with... ...Wyatt in order to prepare her to kill all the hosts of the town - and Arnold. That it was a new personality they had developed, but not deployed yet.
Bosco685
Westworld: Samurai World Hints At Season 2 When Felix was in the elevator to the outside world with Maeve, he told her that he found the information she was looking for and handed her a piece of paper. He told her that her "daughter" was located in Park 1. This means there must be a Park 2, Park 3, Park 4 and so on. In an interview with Variety, Nolan was asked if SW means Samurai World, to which he responded, "Stay tuned." According to Deadline, Nolan is hoping to have Samurai World play out in Season 2. Remember that every single detail (as we learned) is put there for an underlying reason. Lisa Joy reiterated that no matter where the action takes place, the series will always be called Westworld, just like the original movie.

fantastic_four
Such a great show but one thing does puzzle me a bit Where are all the visitors? When "freezing" the bots you would think there might be a bunch of visitors walking around the park waiting to get everything started up again. A park like this, I expected to be filled with "normal" people and not just the bots. If there were too many visitors it would break the fiction. They'd probably recognize each other from modern language, and they'd certainly recognize each other if they tried to do to each other what the guests do to the hosts. Having said that, they've shown them a few times. When that girl with the snake tattoo and her male cohort first showed up, a guest shot them earlier than the narrator wanted them to be shot. fantastic_four
exactly! and also to how come the visitors never are awake when maintenance is cleaning up! There are no all night partying revelers? anywhere? The operators are tracking them constantly, so the only time they would clean up is when no visitors are anywhere nearby or have left the park entirely. But was this due to Ford or Arnold? I just got done watching the finale within the hour; had it recorded on my phone and watched it at lunch today. 1) I don't think we have enough to know, but I'm guessing it was a Ford lookalike android. 2) Blood squirted everywhere which means shot to me. But that shot wasn't in a necessarily fatal location so we don't know if he made it or not; I'm guessing he did due to the shot placement. 3) Ford, or someone else we haven't seen yet. Arnold is dead and unless I missed something we haven't seen evidence he isn't.
fantastic_four
So, Arnold decides to have Delores murder all the hosts and then him and then herself, in a effort to keep the park from opening? Then, Ford does the same, only with all of the board and guests and him, keeping the hosts alive? Is the idea that they can't reopen the park because everyone will now see it's too "dangerous"? At first glance, I don't see much to the Escape programmed into Maeve, except to see whether her free will causes her to stay instead of escape. So maybe that's her freedom, to escape from the programmed escape? My guesses are almost the same as yours, so yes, yes, and yes, but I lean towards Maeve deciding to stay as being programming since everything Bernard says was programmed did in fact happen. fantastic_four
It's unclear. Why have the mother/daughter on the train? To remind her that a real android that is the daughter from her memory actually is in the park.

fantastic_four
And why haven't we ever seen Elsie's body? What would have been the point of Bernard killing her? Wouldn't it make more sense to enlist her in support of Ford? She seemed in support of sentience in the hosts. That seemed unfinished to me as well. I have no fully viable guess yet as to what her death was about.
fantastic_four
When Bernard walked her through what he discovered, you saw key words called out in the programming language (e.g. ESCAPE). I thought the word after the sentence with 'ESCAPE' was 'RETURN'. But could be wrong. Yea I need to see a screenshot of that, I forget. Just searched around for one but couldn't find it. When I saw the Samurai World guys, the first thought that came into my head was that the tech helping Maeve was almost certainly a host programmed by Ford to help her get out and that we were about to find it out for sure. They never revealed it but I still think he is; not much else explains why he was so helpful even after Maeve slashed that guy's throat and later when the hosts started murdering the hell out of everyone. dpiercy
In the original movie, there is a Medieval World and a Roman World, so makes sense they are exploring different parks. I thought a lot of this was way too dialog driven, like a lot of HBO's stuff, but I loved the finale and Thandie Newton and the reveal of the Ed Harris character. That was cool! The Less Blob
I am also wondering about the HR department at Westworld. Do they have one? Does Bernard get a paycheck every month? Is there really nobody at the park who met Arnold or has ever seen a picture of him, considering he is one of the founders? --- I was thinking something similar. Wouldn't they do a background check on the #2 programmer in the park? Unless Ford also created a false identity for him. Arnold was a "partner," but maybe he didn't have a financial interest in the park. like Ford owned the place and they were intellectual partners. As for nobody ever meeting arnold....that makes sense as he has been dead for 35 years. It makes less sense for whenever Bernard was "born"..15 or 20 years ago? And he never ages?
