I need one of those Toronado models; I've been eying up a full size one for years. Howdy Frank. Yeah, you know how much fun it is. A lot like CalCon in a couple weeks. Gotta pack away my toys and start digging out the comic boxes for it. Hope to see you at the next one. jimjum12 and 50YrsCollctngCmcs

Always some interesting paper on offer there plus so many many paperbacks!! Sorry I will miss CalCon again this year I always manage to find a fun book or two there too. Happy selling and hunting! jimjum12
Popular Post Robot Man
Most of you know of my passion for rare comic book premiums. A lot of comics are super hard to find. The mail away clubs can be near impossible. This weekends toy show turned out incredible. Yeah, I picked up a few cool comics but I completed the premiums of two characters. In 1942 DC comics started the Hop Harrigan All American Flying Club in All American Comics. It consisted of a certificate, member card and a metal wings badge. The first badge was gold colored and changed to silver soon after. Popular Post Robot Man
Once you became a member, you could get 5 friends to sign up and you got boosted into the second rank of the American Observation Corps. The metal badge was then converted to a cloth patch to save metal for the war effort. Popular Post Robot Man
What I scored at the show was the very tiny AOC second rank “bounce back” badge and certificate. This little metal wings pin just has AOC on it and is just 1/2” long. 99% of people would just pass this up if they saw it. And due to its size, would be immediately lost by the young members. Only the second one I’ve ever seen. The person I got it from had no idea what it was. Stoked to have all the items given out by DC for this club. Sadly, it wasn’t a club for Green Lantern who has no premiums. adamstrange, mlansdown, jimjum12 and 5 others
Popular Post Robot Man
And if that wasn’t good enough, the same person sold me the Green Lama Axis magic trick premium. Now with the code chart and membership card which I already had, I have all the comic book premiums for the Green Lama. Made my day as I’ve been looking for ever for these! Robot Man
Calcon 2024 is now in the books. Got up with the sun to get there early for load in. Literally, drove up to the hall door. Easiest load in I have ever done. Heavy rain from 2”-8” was predicted all week starting Sunday. Really made me concerned from dealers driving in from all over the state and out of state. littledoom
Popular Post Robot Man
Since I was set up, I didn’t get a lot of time to walk around but got a few wall shots of books of interest to me. Amazing variety of vintage GA/SA/BA and even some dollar modern books. Tri-Color Brian, Azkaban, littledoom and 4 others
Popular Post Robot Man
Went over to see my local flea market buddy Jim Maley and his wonderful wife Linda. He always brings a wonderful booth of not only comics but vintage toys, BLBs and other interesting stuff. He brought me a couple large boxes of pulps. I quickly scooped up most of them for a great price. silverseeker, littledoom, Dark Knight and 2 others 4

Robot Man
My humble “junk pile” booth. Was busy all day. Had a lot of real cheap GA/SA readers that sold briskly as well as a good amount of rare GA’s from the personal collection. I try to price fairly and was told by several folks I have some of the best prices in the room. Just warmed my little black heart and helped me to clean out a lot of stuff. Robot Man
Nuff said! Had a few laughs with probably the craziest guy in the biz. I usually find some hidden gem in is booth of disarray but sadly, not this time. Love him or not, he sure is a happy guy and brings so much fun to a Con. silverseeker, aardvark88, Tri-Color Brian and 1 other 2
Popular Post Robot Man
Bill swam out here all the way from AZ. I actually bought a nice stack of GA books from him. Great selection and probably the best prices in the room. I didn’t even negotiate his prices and happily paid full sticker. Just one of those great oldtimers I love to see. Popular Post Robot Man
My observations from this show… Seemed a lot slower than last year. Maybe the weather, price corrections or who knows. I know a couple of my bigger regulars were not there. There were several other folks I always like to see were absent. I did about a third less than last year. In all reality, I didn’t have quite the stock of bigger books than usual. It is getting near impossible to replace stock once I sell it. I know I refused to negotiate much if any on the real nice stuff. Even with that in mind, I sold quite a few nice books. I really liked the new venue. VERY easy to load in and out of especially at the end with a fairly heavy rain. There were two rooms a comic room and a big art room (also with comics). The main room was a little larger to accommodate a few more dealers but still a pretty nice “old school” feel. There was no on site place to grab a to go lunch though. Terry has found the right formula. A tight, one day show with a busy, focused vibe. He had a nice guest list. None of which were charging for autographs. Big lines for them. He busts his butt to make this show great and accommodate everyone. Easily, the best show in CA and probably the West Coast. Really sorry it is over. I look forward to it all year long and it seems like it is over so quick. Yeah, buying, selling and seeing so many great books. But just the camaraderie and catching up with old friends is maybe the best part. We seem to be losing so many “old timers”. So cool to still have so many of us like Terry, Harley, Jamie Graham, Jamie Newbold, Terry Stroud and many others still with us. Thanks to everyone who showed up and said Hi including more board members than I can remember. Hope you all make it home safely and are back next year. Now, it’s time to unload the truck and clean up the boxes in my garage on a rainy day. The full magazine box of my purchases will just have to wait a while… jimjum12, Jayman, Dark Knight and 5 others 5
