And probably the most difficult to find from that bunch.

I bought two off the stands, one to read and disassemble (if you read the comic you understand my reference but may not understand the actual comic. WHEW!) and one to keep.

A neglected title and imprint. No love where much should be given. (I do bow at the alter of the snake god worshipper though.)

Promethea was a pretty fantastic series. And I'm 100% jealous of people who pull copies of #32 (or 1, or 31, for that matter) from unsuspecting dollar bins. Needless to say, that book is worth a lot more than a buck.

Are these books all in bad shape?

Seems crazy that folks dont take a few minutes to go online and see what they are worth before all but giving them away.

The flea markets I go to...the sellers seem to know whats what.

My flea market experiences usually seem to fit loosely into three categories.

1 - the seller who bought a bunch of comic books in bulk and just wants to move inventory. I was at a recurring flea market we have in our town last year, and a guy had a few longboxes and some books on the table; nothing had marked prices. Saw a probably VF Dark Knight Returns 1 on the table and asked how much. He said "it's only the first part, I don't have the rest, sorry. How about $2?" I have no clue how he knew it was a miniseries but didn't know the value, turned out to be a first print too. I ended up buying a stack of books for around $65. These sellers usually have unsorted boxes - my favorite because it's like a treasure hunt - and they'll just throw out random prices.

2 - the seller who knows a little about some stuff but doesn't seem to care. Same flea market, different day, different seller. Guy had a couple of shortboxes marked "$2/comic" and a few books on a table, all marked. One of the table books was a beat up Crisis on Infinite Earths 8 - he had a post-it note on the bag that said "Death of the Flash - $30." But in the boxes, I found a lot of drek of course, but then I found Thor 338 and 339 for $2 each. These sellers are ok; you can find some cool stuff sometimes if you look hard enough.

3 - the seller who thinks old comic book equals big bucks. These are the people who usually have 10-15 random books in their booth, and they want $40 for Whitman Disney comics. I always look just in case, but I try to avoid these sellers like the plague.

These cost me $7 at the flea today. Had no clue the Voodoo on the right was a $30+ book. I just knew I had never seen it and it was a buck.

I have a full set, plus another half-ish set, including a couple of #1s and mostly mid-late run (but no second copy of #32 (:) other issues. 46 comics. Total cost: $22.02

One of these days I should post some pictures of what my local dollar boxes look like. They're a different sort of "adventure". :fear:

These were at a yard sale for $1 each from the original owner. About 20 shortboxes were laid on the driveway. I ended up leaving with 6 shortboxes for $550. I bought many full runs. These are the highlights
