Yes, I also didn't remember seeing the two chips in the Heritage scan when I first took a look at the book and figured it was just my poor eyes. :facepalm:

So, are you saying that the "chip" to the right on the HA scan  which I do see is actually NOT a chip but a loose piece of paper that just so happened to align perfectly with the right edge of the cover?  hm  (shrug)

yeah it's gotta be something that was removed. If it is color touch, and I am not claiming it is, the "inker" would have to color the black first then put the red ink over it with perfect artistry. It's a pretty detailed little spot.

Highly doubt there's any money made here after factoring in all of the additional ancillary costs to get the bump up in the grade and definitely nowhere close to the $12K "Sale Pending" price tag that was shown on his WW website.  :(

All I'll say is that if I was placing a bet here, I would be much more willing to bet that this Promise copy of Mask 1 would be able to beat its original $102K selling price, as opposed to the Promise copy of 'Tec 140 being able to beat it's original $456K price point from its first go round. :popcorn:  :taptaptap:  :taptaptap:

Not sure if this price is really THAT super strong, especially since we've seen lower graded CGC 4.0 copies selling into the teens with the high point for a CGC 4.0 being $14,754 in a CC Auction back in April of 2021.  hm  (shrug)

As for Mask 2 reaching parity with Mask 1, I guess the upcoming Heritage Signature Auction at the end of this month will possibly give us an answer to your question here.  Especially since CL was able to fetch a rather astounding $118,700 for their single highest graded CGC 8.5 copy of Mask 2 back in June of 2022 while Heritage was able to fetch only $102K for their single highest graded CGC 8.5 Promise Collection copy of Mask 1 back in June of 2021.  :whatthe:  :whatthe:

It will definitely give us a much better picture of where both copies stand when we see what the Promise copy of Mask 1 does in response.:popcorn: :taptaptap:

I don't believe one will ever pull ahead of the other. They'll probably always sell for about the same. If 1's are selling a bit higher the past few sales that will even out. I agree with Clark, the 5.0 looked undergraded or at least strong for the grade. The little tears on the top probably brought it down but the rest looked real nice.

Oh you got that one. Good for you. Yeah a Blue in that grade would have cost you 10,000 more so you did alright.

ComicLink sold a 4.0 for over $16K a while back, not sure CC is the best venue to sell these kind of books but who knows what's going on behind the Green Curtain with those guys.

Its worth noting the Promise copy of Mask 1 only sold for $102k first time around.  This is one of the exceptions to our way of thinking on the Promise books.  The Eerie 1 similarly exceeded the first sale.  Maybe this is more of a comment on the state of PCH books than anything else.
