Popular Post Rip
Yea I don't know what the deal is with CGC getting stupid on the missing pieces like the Sun Girl, and the two Subbys. Those books really should be changed. lou_fine, jimbo_7071, Randall Dowling and 3 others

And, despite its name, it does not guarantee anything, including the accuracy of its grading. Third party grading is an opinion. The ultimate responsibility is with you the TCBC to make the final call. Yes, I agree with CGC on those 9.8's and differ with some of the 9.6/4 etc. The good part is at least they are here to protect us from undisclosed restoration which has become a game of cat and mouse between the CGC and the grade manipulators. There is gonna be a lot of pedigree" bashing" due to the fact that the collection is so great with 5000 OO new to the market books. Do not listen the bashers and you yourself judge how much to pay, and what condition you are buying it in with the understanding that this is probably the LAST OO non collector GA collection of 5000 95% top graded books that will ever hit the market again. I can remember when": Chuckles " selling a lot of Church copies at a early SDCC...Man, collectors were outraged his prices which was about 3x guide and lo and behold 5years later those complainers were saying that they should of bought them all. We have 5000 GA top condition books, enough for everyone on this board and other GA collectors. Yes, the grading is good/bad/spot on...ok I get that...here is what you do not get, 5 years from today everyone on this board who hesitates due to negative comments are gonna complain I should of bought 2 or 5 or what ever. The real winners of this outstanding GA collection, will buy and hold. My opinion of Ha.com com is that I have left bids on certain items with over 10K from the second underbidder and that money was left on the table by an honest auction house. I do not believe for minute that Ha controls CGC, that CGC somehow controls Ha.Com...they are too busy making tons money to do that. Buy it next time it shows up. Most of these books will be bought by new-money people who flit in and out of the hobby like fireflies. They will tire of the hobby in a couple of years and unload their books at a loss just like Gary Keller did with the Mile High Green Lanterns. Most of them have enough money that they won't even notice. woowoo, Gatsby77 and Jayman

Well first they have to have the brains to realize that All-Winners #21 in 9.8 is a miracle in and of itself that it exits today...OO..that is my favorite books so far, great read, cover, condition. Can they separate that book for the 300/500 books coming on board this auction time?.. They have money, but do they have skill....it takes a savy collector to be able to navigate thru that many GA gems. Now, they could hire someone like Mr. Bedrock to advise them...I do not think they are that smart or want to put the time and effort it is to do the necessary research to figure out that All Winners #21 9.8 is priceless and it is. I think down the road 2 thousand books later, they will or might and buy everything that hits the market, but not today. It is a GA collectors privilege to just look at the scan of that book, they are looking for widgets. They could get smart...but I bet not right away...we as TCBC's have the advantage now...... Interesting points. However, we cannot discount the fact the HA has probably been on its Rolodex non stop hyping this collection to every heavy hitter investor that it knows ever since they first knew that they got the job of selling this motherlode. As such, a whole lot of brains and/or a whole lot of skill may not be necessary. Neither may it be necessary to be a savvy investor. No...all it may take are a few pre auction phone calls which include some "advice" and the widget purchasing will start with lot #1 and end with lot #5000. waaaghboss
So most of the books won't be graded? Kind of good news, look's like a bunch will escape the pancake press Owner held them till he was 94, very impressive. Sounds like the family is the collection has 10 double covers, very cool. Sounds like he was actively seeking them out. Didn’t learn too much other than what we already knew, that this collection is a unicorn and is awesome! (and that they already sold the Batman one in CGC 9.4). The host hit it on the head when he said the viewers will be upset with Matt Nelson for taking the time to do the interview when we all have so many darned books waiting to be graded. Mr. Lady Luck
When they talk about how the raw copies were so nice (i.e. after pressing, the book is a 9.6, but the raw book would have been a 9.4), I die a little bit inside. comicjack, Jayman, waaaghboss and 1 other 3

I’m just pointing out that there are enough ‘real collectors’ out there with deep pockets that a book like AW 2 is going to receive plenty of attention. No way it slips through on a weak sale, regardless of the marketing.

linmoth
Thanks to the original poster for the link. I don’t know Brian but he sure is enthusiastic about this collection. Sorta seems like you guys on here would feel the same. I’m not a real GA collector I have had some in my collection in the past. Not a fan of pressing but now that it is out in the open and a level playing field, have at it. These books are beautiful and I enjoy looking at them. I may even buy a few. It’s almost like looking at the photo journal books. Sorry if I upset some of you just my opinion and I have broad shoulders.
