Made my very 1st purchase from MCS last week.  Just a cheap order for 2 copies of the same book.  Advertised as 6.0 & 9.4

Sold with stock photos.  Very curious to see what arrives

I ordered a full run of Nth man from them to read and what I got certainly is nicer than the grades given in the shop. Not that it matters, as this is Nth man we are talking about, but still

And anyone who bought any of the X-Men books I commissioned with them recently definitely got very nice copies for the grades given

Anecdotally, prices in the auction seemed a little soft last night, which was fine with me as I was strictly a buyer. We'll see if that remains as the holidays get closer.

Post-Baltimore Comic Con update:

We had a great time two weeks ago at Baltimore Comic Con. We had lots of customers stop by and say hi, bought a bunch of books, and picked up a ton of consignment drop-offs. I enjoyed talking with @jgallo who we were located next to. Spoke with@VintageComics, @joeypost, Al Stoltz, and @AustinReece_GRRC. And always good to see @ttfitz! I know I'm leaving out plenty of other people I hung out with across the retailer summit and the con. Steve Borock had a great time at the show catching up with friends and brought in some great art consignments (we're developing and growing our art section, work in progress with changes to come).

Celebrity sightings: I was in the Sheraton, and shared an elevator ride with John Leguizamo. Frank Miller was also in the Sheraton and saw him multiple times at breakfast and in the lobby.

We originally planned to drive a 16 foot truck back from the show with our consignment pick-ups, but we wound up having too much for that truck and had to switch to a 26 foot truck to accommodate the weight. We came home with around 6000 slabbed consignments and several long boxes of raw consignments, and a bunch of good art. I estimate total value maybe around $900K.

Long-time customers and superfans James and Heather LePore dropped off this hand-made pillow that Heather made for Buddy. Went out to lunch with them, wonderful people! If you don't know me that's me (Conan) holding the pillow.

 

J.C. Vaughn editor of the Overstreet Price Guide posing with a very sharp copy of the OSPG #1 1st printing that I purchased at the show (not from JC). It came with the original mailer envelope plus some handwritten notes from Bob Overstreet that were mailed at the time to the person that bought it.

And from one con to another pretty different one: this weekend we'll be set up (with inventory to sell) at Collectors Summit Dallas. Description from their page:

The show itself is pretty small and tightly focused, and tickets sold out a while ago. This is the second time they're doing the show. I wasn't at the first one they did last year, but this one is looking pretty exciting.

The venue is in the showroom area of Heritage's massive building near DFW airport, though Heritage isn't directly managing the show themselves.

Preview night Sat along with tours of Heritage's building, show Sunday 10 am to 5 pm, afterparty Sunday night. If anybody is around on Monday I'll be available to give tours of our building which is a 20 minute drive from where Heritage is.

More often than not there seems to always be something of sorts going on nearby, in the realm of DFW. Thanks for speaking up on some events, I'm sure I never hear of it "ALL"  

Had some money this weekend, but drive and sold out haha. Anyway thanks for the Comic Con report too

I've had another great two weeks of doing biz with them. I had a few nice CGC sales and a newer batch of CGC books I sent in arrived. I also put together my first raw sets/groups to have auctioned and it's been smooth so far. Total time from when they approved the offer to getting them up as live auctions was exactly a month. Far better than what I expected. I tried six diff groups of 2-5 books on stuff that I had upgraded or moved on from - from Silver to Modern - and the bids have been coming in early and often.

I also had to go ahead and win some of THEIR auctions because I always have to have more Subbies and TOD's. I also filled a few Frank Miller DD holes. Add in purchases from Dr. Banner and the Lizard from the Marketplace here and I have plenty to read this weekend.

I should have more CGC books headed out to them late next week.

Good stuff and their Tuesday MCS emails are cool too.

Just want to throw my opinion into the ring. 
 

I’ve dealt with mycomicshop and their website, and have made a few purchases through them now. 
 

Well packaged stuff, and everything has arrived as described. Items that I bought were always consignments but so far, sellers have agreed to my offers. 
 

All good. Keep up the community building guys.

They occasionally get deadbeat buyers.  I had one book that never got paid for and MCS eventually released it back to me so I could re-list or re-auction it.

Unfortunately there are deadbeat buyers.  I've sold about 50 books through mycomicshop and had 2 fail to pay.

Most likely.  I consider it the cost of doing business. 

At least with mycomicshop once the book is sold and paid for I don't have to worry about a thing.

Right but after 3 weeks the unpaid-for book should have gone back into @Black_Adam consignments. His message infers that the book is still hanging around in the unpaid ether.

The books are still hanging around in the unpaid ether. When this has happened (rarely) to me before I believe it had to do with MCS awaiting a promised check from the buyer. Still waiting to hear from MCS if that is the case this time and when/if payment can be expected or if the books will go back into my consignments.

Ah, good point. It probably is due to waiting for a check to arrive.
