Multiple Copies of a Book

I’d need to dig them up but I have about 8 copies of Our Army at War 151. 1st Enemy Ace. It is not a cheap book, but not super expensive either. I read the graphic novel with George Pratt art and was turned on to the character. As a spec move, yes, folks collecting Kubert Sgt Rock books could die out and these go the way of Roy rogers comics as DC has barely done anything with him (guest app in Legends of tomorrow?) and who reads war comics? But Enemy Ace seemed like an interesting character

I was trying to put together a complete run of Marvel 12 cent books. I had less than fifty to go at one point. I was at a show and a dealer from Florida had a huge run of mid grade Marvel SA. An hour or so of digging had produced about twenty of the books I was missing and I was negotiating a price with him when it dawned on me I was about to spend a weeks salary on a bunch of books I didn't really want, just so I could accomplish something no one else would care about and would mean nothing. Would I be a better man for having 100% of the books instead of having 98% of them? Would it advance my goal of world peace?

I returned most of the books in my hand and grabbed a handful of SME 15s he was selling for $10 each. That was the day I became a type collector.

Koch had a seemingly endless supply of nice SME 15s he never got more than the $9.99 opening bid on for years in the early 2000s. Ahhh the good old days for buying.

Like 50 Thor 339s I won’t take a pic of. My old LCS closed in 2001 and he sold them to me for 10 cents each. He had speced 1000 of them when they came out after 337 had become an instant wall book and these were what were left after years of sprinkling them in his 25 cent box to get rid of them.

well,

Come and listen to my story about a man named Jed
A poor mountaineer, barely kept his family fed,
And then one day he was shootin at some food,
And up through the ground come a bubblin crude.

Oil that is, black gold, Texas tea.

Well the first thing you know ol Jed's a millionaire,
The kinfolk said "Jed, buy some comics there"
Said "Catman Comics are the ones you better bet"
So he loaded up his truck with every copy he could get

skulls, that is. Top hats, monocles.

Wasn't expecting this type of response, I approve and tip my hat to you
