Point Five's 5th Annual Grading Contest: ROUND 1 BOOKS!
5 5

58 posts in this topic

And we're off!

-- If you're just joining us, please go to the signup thread to read the full rules and sign up. Still a few slots left but closing Friday.

-- The books have not been pressed or cleaned since these raw scans were taken.

-- There are 3 books in this round; all are now in CGC slabs. Send me a PM with your grades (make the title "Grading Contest: [your username]") and I'll record them. Send just one PM with all of your grades and add to it for future rounds; no changing of grades. You can copy/paste the below:

ROUND 1

1. Action Comics #61

2. Detective Comics #411

3. Suzie #56

-- I will post the full grading notes with each book. (This can be misleading... sometimes the notes use harsher language than I might use to describe a flaw, and on the other hand there can be many flaws that the graders don't mention at all. So I tend to advise weighing what you see  more heavily than the notes, except when they describe flaws not visible.)

-- Scoring is as follows:
Bullseye = 5 points
1 grade off = 3 points
2 grades off = 1 point
3 or more grades off = -1 point
(so remember: with this contest, the higher score the better.)

-- Once more with feeling: do not use the census for this contest.

-- Grades are due Saturday, March 9th 10 pm EST.

Good luck!

Jon

One more thing: do not discuss the books themselves in these contest threads. Asking questions about condition or talking about defects are off the table.

But: stressing about your grading, bragging about your grading, "grades sent", cat gifs, dog gifs, assorted anxieties, general feelings of impending doom? All fair game.  (thumbsu

Just about all of my free time today has been occupied with an abandoned dog I found this morning. :(

Grades in by the deadline tomorrow. :wishluck:

Anyone want a lab/pit (maybe) mix and wanna swing by ABQ to pick him up?
