I wish I knew who to tag?

Any thoughts on rust migration?

Are these too bad off to instantly use? The sun was coming down, when I was told I could come get them...so the best pics I can take for now. :sorry:

Help me out here 🙏🙏

Let me guess...for storing comics?

Me im a welder so i see potential.a grinder with soft sandpaper on (apply gently this metal is thin) then à bit of paint...can be done for cheap.after that no problem for storing comics(just let dry the paint first lol )!

Or even cheaper just spray with something like that one ,see image

Amen! It helps!

Would I spray the inside as well?

I've heard it would seem dry but even later would come out of the paint and stick.

I heard do whatever on the outside, but not the inside is what I mean

I've heard that it has to be touching the rust with paper and staples. I've heard bag and board should be fine. I won't know until tomorrow how bad the insides are, but if little inside and mostly outside? Do I bother to spray the inside? @Namtak

And then as I said I've heard spray the outside but not the inside, because even months down the road with the enamel even it can come out of the paint, but double checking

I have the belt sander and etc, but would probably just spray if needed due to time constraints. One of these with the short folder drawers looks, we'll, just older and from the pics the most rusty. If I spray the enamel on the outside, will it then turn the color of the spray? Any thoughts on clear coat of the rustoleum, as far as look of them when finished?

Or lining it with bubble wrap? Or other.... or should I just man up and paint the inside with the stuff.

Just time constraints between letting it dry, the next time it rains, room outside, and getting it otherwise situated lol

It's appreciated! I'll look in the morning to see how bad the insides are, will still clear gloss rustoleum the outside just in case. If insides aren't weathered or barely brown in spots I'll line them. Lord willing the inside just needs to be disinfected lol leaves and stuff out of it washed and looked over closely. :)

Depending on where you live, chances are that your rust problems will probably cease altogether once you get them inside.

It's a little pricey, but this stuff is bulletproof on cars:

https://por15.com/products/top-coat?variant=39607017504935&currency=USD&utm_medium=product_sync&utm_source=google&utm_content=sag_organic&utm_campaign=sag_organic&utm_source=google&campaign_id=17309671111&ad_id=&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=&utm_content=&utm_term=&utm_term=&ad_group_name=&tw_source=google&tw_adid=&tw_campaign=17309671111&gad_source=1

I've sprayed this on a few projects (usually in the trunk) and it almost feels like an undercoating, but it stops rust dead in it's tracks. And you don't need to sand, or anything. Just wipe your surface with alcohol, let dry and spray. It'll never rust through.

If it were on the inside of the cabinets - where no one is really going to see - I'd hit it with this stuff and pile comics in there. No need to do any extensive work, just spray and go.

I awoke this morning with them outside and a puddle of water from dew on top. I cleaned them out best I could with dawn dish soap and a rag. I don't notice too much problem inside, which is separate from the shell that had minor blemishes. I got it inside, which was a feat in itself! So here it sits to not be moved again. I think I'm ok without doing anything. Inside, cedar room, and temp controlled with ac/heat.

Here is the one spot that idk from inside in the first pic, but the others show the few blemishes outside and the full inside with no problem.

I think Lord willing will be ok, 🙏🙏 😉

Thanks @Dr. Balls @Crops068 @STORMSHADOW_80 and @Namtak for helping me out.

The one pictured I kept, the other earlier in the thread I gave to a family member for their garage.  :)

They may have been stored outside at their previous location, idk but possible. I was told to come immediately yesterday if I wanted them for free, they were already at the curb for trash day so I didn't have a lot of time to sit and think 😂

I knew they were on a list of things I'd like, so I up and ran. With the dew and trying to take in the situation this morning, I just wanted to clean them and saw that the damage or rust was mostly cosmetic. Got it inside and was like, umm err..., am I still doing this rust spray? The family member I gave the other too wasn't to concerned about it on my end.

I appreciate the feedback, as it takes a village and wisdom comes from asking many. Lord made a way! 😉

Ok, here it is in all its messy glory.  Still a bit of a work in progress.  Here is a view from the hallway.  Again, excuse the messy corner.  I have a lot of recycling to take care of.

This and that Nintendo Entertainment System are pretty sweet! Is the NES something you'll send for grading? Or is a memento? or your childhood system? either way I like that it is apart of the collection :headbang:

I actually just picked that up recently.  My childhood system has been long gone for decades.  I had been thinking about buying one but hadn't seriously been looking.  Found this one and it is super clean.  No yellowing, nice Styrofoam and has all of the paperwork.  So, why not.  My brother-in-law owns a video game store in Florida and gives me great prices on certain games from my childhood that I've been searching for.  I'm not going for an NES set or anything, but I prefer the games I'm looking for to be CIB.  So, because of him, I'm able to get some really nice stuff at a super good price.
