That's a shame. I hate rusted staples, especially when the rust stain migrates to the paper and weakens it.

A lot of the white MLJ covers I've seen over the years have a tendency to go from white to beige. Maybe all publishers covers but MLJ strikes me the most. Pep 42 copies are notoriously browning. Here's my previous copy and the one I was lucky enough to upgrade to. Very tough book to find with a white cover.

No matter what con you go to, there is always that “one guy”…

Was at WonderCon and spotted a box on the floor behind the table of a guy I usually never buy from.

I asked to look and he told me he just picked them up. Mostly all Archie pubs, unbagged and not priced. Not many Archie’s but a bunch of Wilbur and Suzie (which I like even more). All ‘40’s era.

I pulled out a few, asked the price and he seemed a little puzzled but just started pricing them off the top of his head. He obviously was not familiar with them. I had most of the Wilbur’s and some were a bit trashed. Sadly, he didn’t have #1 or 5 and none of the classic covers. So, I quickly grabbed these and a few other early ones.

He had a lot of Suzie and most of the better ones were there. I quickly grabbed these as well as a bunch more early ones.

He kept saying that “Terry will buy these” (O’Neal). But I told him Terry wasn’t there or even set up.

Sure glad he wasn’t. I filled in a LOT of holes in my run.

LOL, no not me. Just marveling at the price.

I have a qualified 2.5q copy, and if this is the cost of a modest upgrade I'm more than content to park it there.

Not my first MLJ/Archie, but certainly my first contribution to this thread.  I’m excited to add Zip 35 to my collection.  Not only a cool cover, but first appearance of Ginger Snapp.
