Been a fan of Doc Smith for most of my life, in reprint form.

I have a couple of them as original Pulps as well.

I visited a local book store which carries comic books and pulp magazines. My focus for once was to see what I could unearth in the way of pulps, and at least one Detective title. Unfortunately the pickings for Detective books were slim but I did obtain this 1944 issue of Detective Fiction, that includes a story by Day Keene. Also of interest is a 2 page illustrated crimes feature.

Next up is a 1950 copy of A. Merrit's Fantasy magazine. His Face in the Abyss story first appeared in a September 1923 issue of Argosy.

I also snapped up this copy of  Astounding dated December 1941. Included are E.E. Smiths "Second Stage Lensman" story (part 2 of 4). Also part of my interest is the significance of December 1941.

Last but not least, and after sifting through 7 boxes of pulps, many of which were Argosy magazines, I found one where the cover illustration, condition, and author all lined up with my interests. One of the featured stories is "Seven footprints to Satan part 2, by A. Merritt, in the July 1 1939 issue.

In today.  I already had a lower grade copy, but ugly writing on the cover meant it was unacceptable to me even by my low standards.  Only Asimov story in WT:

Even though it was the weekend of the Windy City show, I picked this up at the toy show. It’s water damaged throughout and wavy, but it was too gruesome of a cover to pass up.
